Milk... how much baby prepping did you do before getting pregnant?

Just a query really as my Mum was buying baby gros as if they're going out of fashion not long back just because we are trying, we're looking to move to a house we can cope with a baby in that bit better than the one we have... I wouldn't dream of buying anything baby-ish yet, we talk names though...

What did you do/buy/decide before you even got pregnant....

Nothing.

We moved house so a more family friendly house and did it up how we wanted it.  That was all.

Nothing. I didn't buy a single baby item until I'd had the 20wk scan. I only bought maternity clothes when my normal clothes didn't fit.

We decided on a boys name when on our honeymoon, about a year before we started TTCing, although we felt we couldn't use it because my best friend called her baby boy a very similar name just before we eventually did start TTCing (although we'll probably use it if we have a second boy).

Apart from that we didn't do anything.

Well our house is big enough for kids, although not really child suitable with cream carpets and lots of nice new furniture....

When we thought we might need to replace our car earlier this year we looked at cars that were also child friendly, but in the end our car didn;t need as much work doing to it.

I figure with 8 months + notice of a baby arriving there's plenty of time to buy stuff, and I wouldn;t have wanted to be surrounded by baby stuff if it didn't happen quickly/easily.

Ditto, seemed like tempting fate to eve consider buying anything before that.

I was lurking on here for a while before TTCing...

I decided I'd do a hypnobirthing course
I learnt about mothers' milk/ the negative health effects of not BFing

And I cried when H bought a shared car for us without consulting me (as a surprise) as it was a 3-door so I figured he wasn't thinking of wanting children any time soon

Nothing, although we did bear it in mind when we moved house just before ttcing.

We bought a house to move out the rented one in the dodgy street we lived in. I read loads of stuff on the internet about getting pregnant and baby books although didn't buy anything specific

Oh yes, when I replaced my car a few months before TTCing, I went for a 5 door after always previously having had 3 door cars

For years if I saw something small that would be relevant to a child/baby I bought it. Things didn't happen. We moved so I sold it all on ebay. Two years later I conceived.

When we got a car last year we almost bought a 3dr but went for a 5dr focus with a view to it being easier to get baby in and out!

We put the house on the market a year ago to move to a larger home, closer to better pre-schools and infant schools.  We have had buyers and lost buyers but are finally moving on monday!

I lost 3stone before TTC and started eating healthily/cut down on alcohol.  A few months before we started TTC I began taking pregnacare plus omega tablets.

My husband stopped smoking at the beginning of the year (I'm a non-smoker).

We didn't buy any specific baby bits though, apart from baby books to learn more about pregnancy and looking after baby. 

Ah, bless your mum, they get so excited!!!  We haven't told many people about being pregnant yet apart from very close family but my mum has slipped up and told a few people at her work and our hairdresser!!

Literally none and it was a good job too as it took us 3 years to have E!  I don't think I would have enjoyed looking at a house full of stuff and waiting for a baby to use it.  In fact I was so engrossed in getting pregnant that when the baby did finally turn up I had no idea what to do with him

we bought a 3 bedroomed house just before we got married as we knew we wanted a family, although perhaps my husbands interpretation of how soon was a bit different than mine. I managed to persuade him to paint the box room a neutral colour, he asked why and I told him that we might be decorating it again soon. It still didn't click so i had to tell him 'blue or pink?' he soon got the idea!
