  • Wedding Price hike RANT!!

hi just wanted to run something past you all reguarding hotel rates, my hotel says they charge £80 for B&B but will give me a special rate of £70 if i book more than 10 rooms...which i am, the problem i have is that when a guest of mine rang up to enquire on the price of a room we were a little sneaky and asked for a price on the previous sat as well as the sat of the wedding ( as a non wedding guest....sneaky i know but i want to make sure i was getting a good deal) and he was told £72 for the sat before my function and £82 the night of my wedding...because there was a function on.

So in affect the discount she is giving me is really not a discount as she is hiking her prices up for my wedding anyway!!! am i just being obsessive about saving pennies or is this really out of order on her behalf to make me think im getting a good deal??

    Sorry for the rant :)

I would call up and question them about it.

Our venue has offered us a really good rate - £75 B&B instead of £110 room only!!!!!! But I has since seen the room rate advertised for weddings at £68 B&B which they haven't told me about so I will be questionning them!!!

My hotel have done this too. Offered us a 'special rate' of £90 for a double room and £80 for a single, but then I found out if you book online you get the same room for £58 double occupancy!!!

Hmm that does seem a bit odd to me. I guess what the venue is doing is making money while there is demand.  They are planning on lots of your guests wanting rooms so you get a discount but for those who are not with the wedding they are making their money back.  You will prob find that their room rate changes almost min to min depending on how many rooms are available. It does seem strange but it is very common within hotels when it comes to pricing their rooms.

And Mr and Mrs T lived happily ever after (well apart from when they were arguing or not talking to each other)

Joint 3rd - MIA - I am touched I never knew you cared so much !

I would tell your venue that they either match that rate for your guests (you had better know how many rooms you need in advance) or you will simply go on line and do it.  Although you may find there is only one room actually at that price and once it is booked the price starts to go up.

    lol no lancashire x

  • Re: Wedding Price hike RANT!!

I would definately question them, as all hotels make a small fortune when weddings are on, expecially in the food and alcohol stakes, and the more guests stay over, the more they make.

The package our venue does gives us a lodge, and 2 double rooms inc breakfast foc. We upgraded the 2 double rooms to lodges at £60 each. Price for double rooms inc breakfast are £70 - normally £120, so definately query it....

Also get it in writing and takes print outs from their website too.....

    good luck x x x
