tell me about e-bay?

I have quiet a few baby girl outfits that i want to sell along with baby grows and vests etc. I e-bay the best place to sell them? what is the pro's and con's? i do not have a clue about e-bay

It can be ok but easy to become disallusioned with. Named stuff tends to go better, non named stuff tends not to sell very well. Bundles can do quite well as well.

best thing to do is look at what's sold - put in what you have so 'Boys Next Jumper' and tick completed listings at the side and it'll show you what's sold in green and what didn't in red. 

When thinking of postage costs don't forget ebay/paypal fees too which are depending on the final sale value.

Also when listing think of what you;d search for when deciding on the title so your item pops up on more people's searches

yes ebay charges, if you go onto ebay it lists what there fees are. If you get paid via paypal, they have fees too.

yes, you have to accept paypal if you are a seller, but you can also accept cheques/PO if you want.

If you can put extra on your postage and send recorded delivery, it saves the hassle if you end up in a dispute. Ebay always takes the buyers side unless you have definitive proof you have posted the item.

as an aside, have you tried to sell them on the for sale page on here?

if you're selling low value items and get a proof of posting cert from post office then you're covered up to £30+ish if it goes missing.  I send 2nd class mostly as it keeps postage costs down.  I always fill in a proof of postage cert which has recipients name and address on there, post office then stamps it

see, my PO is crap they never give me a cert of posting unless I ask for it and most of the time I forget as  I am in a rush!

Does the cert of posting cover you then? I was told by my PO it doesn't

I got a bundle of blank ones then fill them out at home before you go.  You can fit up to 10 parcels on one cert so really easy.  I put it in the bag with the parcels and hand it over first so I don't forget, all they do is stamp and initial it.  I only discovered this recently

Here's a bit from the RM website

For stamped and metered items a postage refund plus compensation on the basis of actual loss, where evidence of posting and evidence of value can be provided. This compensation is subject to the maximum payable being the lower of the market value of the item and statutory maximum of 100 x 1st Class stamps at the first weight step.

Postage refund (a minimum payment of 6 x 1st Class letter stamps at the first weight step) shall be payable where only basic evidence is provided or the item is of no intrinsic value.

Claims must be submitted within 12 months of posting.
