2012 brides please reassure me - am I mad?!

Hi All

We've been wedding planning for a few weeks now and I realise that we've got 20/21 months to plan it all.

However, I can't seem to think of anything else!! I have day dreams about weddings, the planning, girlie trips out with my Mum and my BMs, the hen do, etc.

I'm annoying my OH because "all i talk about is the wedding" but I can't stop myself. We haven't booked anything yet but we've seen the Curate and been to a few venues. OH is enthusiastic but thinks that 2012 is ages off and he doesn't like to plan ahead. Even if it was Sept 2011 I'm sure he wouldnt be interested in dresses and favours though! But seriously, all i do at work when i have a spare minute is come on here. All my texts to my best friend (CBM) are wedding related. I've been thinking about colour svhemes, my dress, BM dresses, centrepieces, favours, etc, etc and i can't help myself. It's like I want to have it all planned out ASAP...

Is anyone else like this or am I completely mad?! And is there such a thing as "wedding brain"?!

Its natural hun, I got engaged in sept 2008, and join hitched Oct 2008, i was planning and collecting ideas etc etc chatting away with OH, who totally not interesting  telling me its there load of times etc etc how-so-ever we finally booked our wedding last may! OH still not interesting.. BUT about 2 or 3 weeks ago hes started interesting, cos its only 8 months to go today... Me and BM chatting away about wedding for last 2 years...

Its not completed mad!! You just wanted to be right, and thinking about things, and collecting etc etc dont worry about it.

i got engaged 4weeksa go, and am a 2012 bride, may26th to be precise!!  we booked the veue last night, and the photographer...as long as you have the big things booked then you should be ok!!

ive got it all in my head!! start a scrap book, i bought an a4 pad of paper and have stuck loads fo bits and pieces and written lists etc in so h2b can flick through and get into it....luckily hes got lots of ideas too!

Remind h2b that the more u book now the longer you have to pay for it too!!

Never to early to plan and start making a scrapbook of ideas. One thing I will say is not to buy too much just yet as so many Brides change their minds over colours etc when they start looking.

Im soooooooo glad I'm not the only one... my H2B has been saying that we have plenty of time and not to rush plans but I too keep going over plans in my head, day dreaming etc.

We have booked a date for August 2012, we have got appointments in 2 weeks with the florist and photographer.  I have chosen the colour theme (with H2B's input of course), I have chosen my dress, only because I stumbled across the bridal studio and fell in love with it...

Flowers picked (kind of), shoes getting organised (having them hand made), reception and food sorted just about.

Reading back with what I have just written sounds as if I'm getting married next week rather than 22 months and 2 weeks away... eek!

My excuse for all this planning now though is I work full time and Im also studying a degree so I just wont have time nearer to the date... oh who am I kidding, looovvvveeeee it! xx

I am the same, can't think of anything else.

My OH and dad think I have gone mad. Suddenly interested in flowers and dresses.

But I think, it#s only gonna happen once, so am going to make it brilliant.

I am exactly the same. Think of it this way - you have plenty of time to plan and get it exactly the way you want it. Also, you can book all the suppliers that you really want without worrying that they will be booked up.

First thing we did was book the venue and registrar, which are both date dependent. I have also already bought my dress because I fell in love with one online so had to try it to see if it was the right one, which it was. Now I'm just relaxing a bit about it and gathering ideas for the day.

I know I will be in the minority but have to say that whilst it is great fun you do need to keep a sense of proportion to these things. I speak from experience as we had a failed attempt at getting hitched a few years before we did the deed in April. The first time round I was the OTT obsessed bride-to-be who's only conversation was wedding related. Looking back even I realise I was boring as hell and it created stress that didn’t even exist!

Second time round we planned it in about a year with almost everything being down within the last 6/7 months. It didn't take over our lives, OH was enthusiastic but even so there was a bit of a come down afterwards. I dread to think what I would have been like if I had been in uber planning mode for 2 years +!

Thank god I'm not the only one, I havn't stopped talking about weddings since we got engaged I have pretty much booked our venue, got my photographer, know what dress and BM dresses I want, Flowers still debating on and the rest will all soon come :)

I don't care if its a while off but it will come round quick. And it gives me something to look forward to lol.

You sound just like me!! when i went away on holiday last week my best friend left a message on facebook saying 'have a good time and thank god i dont need 2 talk about weddings 4 a WHOLE week' so i have e feeling im doing everyones heads in but i dont care coz im enjoying it!!!!!! And so should u be, so carry on as you have been!!

I think I am driving H2B mad!!!!

We've got ages yet 10th Nov 2012!

We have only booked to the venue so far but we are about to book the tog as well!

This is soooo totally fab!

Rather than boring everyone with our 2012 weddings, we all ought to meet up here once a week and have a really good chat about how our plans are going.  WE wont be bored listening to it as we will be getting inspiration and ideas from everyones plans....

Thank you all so much for reassuring me!

I got a text today from my old hairdresser saying that she was back up and running now she's had her baby... And my immediate thoughts were "Hmmmm... If I start going to her then she might come round Mum's on the morning of the wedding to do our hair. Or do I stay with the salon my Mum goes to and we'll go there instead?" And text 2 of my BMs about it....

Just an innocent text turns into another daydream for Laura....

Ur not mad at all, we get married 8th sept 2012, and we are both planning like mad, it does seems ages away, but no one is telling us we are booking to early, its the opposite, things are getting booked up until 2013 already...We have booked, venue and suits so far, to miss loosing our date and to beat the VAT increase in jan.

Enjoy ur planning, and get OH involved, my fella is full of ideas, its scarey.
