Had a phonecall from my mum earlier her kitten has been hurt, she wasn't sure what happened but he was playing outside then rushed in and hid under the bed, which isn't like him, so she went to investigate and found that he'd weed and there was blood in it and there was a hole in his side [:'(]

Mum said his little face looked so confused, they've rushed him to the vets who thought it might have been an air-rifle wound (!!) my mum doesn't think it was this, as she didn't hear anything, but is waiting to hear from the vet after he's been x-rayed. Poor boy, he's only 7 months old and is a total darling, I looked after him and his brother and sisiter for 6 weeks when they we're little so I'm very attached to him, and really hope it's all going to be ok.

Would appreciate some famous hitched vibes please! Will keep you updated.

    Thanks

Just heard from the vet - he's definitely been shot the vet has found the pellet but can't remove it as it's too deeply embedded. God I'm hoping he's going to be ok. I'm furious though - who does that!!

    Thanks grace85

Grrrr people make me so angry.

Have they said if he'll be able to live with it if they can't remove it?

He's out of surgery, the pellet went through his intestine and grazed his bladder, the vet has stitched him all up and is just hoping he doesn't get peritinitus (sp) now, my mum is in quite a state bless her, these kittens are like babies to her. I really hope he's ok, they're going to visit him tonight to see how he's doing. It's times like these I wished I lived a bit closer to my parents.

My parents went around to the lovely old ladies who live next door to them and they confirmed that their neighbours (next door but one to my parents) have air rifles, the 2 boys and the dad shoot targets in the garden frequently. We believe this man (the dad) might also have a criminal record as my dad has seen him being taken away by the police in hand-cuffs, we're hoping there is enough information to get them charged.

Thanks for your replies. I will keep you updated.

The vet couldn't get the pellet out unfortunately, it's going to stay in his leg, bless him.

    Thanks for all your replies.
The kitten is doing well, he's had some tea and is doing ok. The next 24-48 hrs are critical to make sure he hasn't got peritonitis but if he gets through that he should be ok.

Apparently the police didn't seem very interested but are visiting my parents tomorrow evening to take a statement.

Will keep you updated. Thanks for your kind words.

    Hi guys,

He's doing ok today, had a good night, but didn't want to eat his special poorly cat breakfast, think he fancied what his brother was having. Back to the vet this afternoon and then fingers crossed he'll be out of immediate danger of infection. Will keep you updated. Thanks

  • Re: Vibes please for Mum's kitten *small update*

Poor kitten! I hope he is doing even better today.  If he's after someone elses food he sounds like he's heading back to normal kitty-ness!

What an awful person you must be to do that to a kitten Angry  Tell us where he lives and I will fire up the A Team van and we can all head round and shoot HIM with a few air rifles.  Grr.
