  • Re: Cranial Osteopathy sleep report

Thanks AllyDrew, useful to know. Think I will be giving it one more session and then leaving it at that. I can't afford to be wasting money on something that probably won't work.

El11, don't be daft lovely. Complain away! It helps to know that I'm not the only one with the incredible non sleeping baby. Besides, sleep deprivation is sleep deprivation. It all sucks.

When I think back it was 2 months ago that this every 2 hours malarkey started, while we were on holiday funnily enough. That coincides with his stomach getting upset and him not pooing for ages, and we're still having issues with him going now (struggles for ages, doesn't go for days etc) so maybe we need to address that too (have asked HV but they are next to fecking useless). He is probably teething too, I can see the outline on his gums of his top teeth and he keeps getting bright red cheeks.

I have a docs appointment for Friday, so I will ask while I'm there.

I'm sorry the sleep hasn't improved.  I have no experience of CO but as others have said I woul dimagine it would take more sessions and time to work.  Not what you want to hear of course.

Definately get sleep when you can during the day, I still do when I'm at home and D is 14 months!

If he is having problems with constipation go to the Drs, mine prescribed something called Movicol and it has worked wonders and definitely helped the sleeping.

  • Re: Cranial Osteopathy sleep report

Thanks Mrs_C I will ask about that tomorrow morning. I really am beginning to think it could be affecting his sleep. He's tried to poo twice this morning and still no luck (I've mentioned it to the HV twice and she said all I could do was give water and orange juice - no mention of seeing the doctor or that there was something else they might be able to do - bloody HVs!)

Last night was predictably awful. 11pm bedtime, up at 12:45, 1am, 1:15am, 2-3am then thankfully had a better chunk of sleep until 6:30am. I can't cope on that little sleep though. It really is killing me.

Have you tried baby massage to help him poo?

Isla didn't go for 2 days which is unheard for from her (she poos as if it's going out of fashion) I did some gentle massage and then a couple of hours later, we got a result Laugh

I think there was a thread on here last night about what massage to do, if you would like more info, let me know xx

  • Re: Cranial Osteopathy sleep report

I have heard lots of good things about COs, but anyone who says that they can do this:

"try and release some tension in his parasympathetic nervous system, because his sympathetic nervous system was too dominant"

by manipulating a baby's body is, IMO, making it up. Nervous systems just don't work that way.

  • Re: Cranial Osteopathy sleep report

Spam - We do baby massage, it hasn't helped one jot unfortunately. The I love you massage used to work a treat until we started solids.

Jellicle - I know she mentioned nervous systems and the balance being all wrong and something about tension, it may not have been all about the same thing. I'm sleep deprived and most sentances blend into one for me now Weep I wouldn't normally believe something like this either, but I'm willing to give it a go. Anything a go..... Bawl

    Hi,

I haven't managed to read everyone's posts but it does take a while sometimes for a CO to work.  we took our little one and there was a slight improvement but then she reverted back to "normal" after a couple of sessions.  I think they will finally jsut get it, unfortunately for us it took her 18months as she has only just started sleeping through and being settled at bedtime.  We haven't changed anything so she was just ready to settle.

It's tough and I had people left right and centre saying maybe i should try a bottle but I decided it wasn't right for us and just "struggled through".  It will get better.  has your hv got access to a sleep nurse thingy as they were quite helpful to us when I reached desperation point.

It's hideous and i really hope it sorts out soon for you.

DDL - I'm another with a non-sleeper. I just wanted to offer you a beacon of hope. A is a few weeks older and is starting <crossing fingers> to sleep for longer and to settle back to sleep without needing a feed from me. She can do 4-5 hour stretches (mixed with the occasional one or two) but I do feel that she is beginning to improve. Keep the faith!

Oh and re bowels thing. A had dreadful problems with straining once she started on solids - pushing til she almost burst s ablood vessel with no results. We have found prunes (teh soft ones in a packet) have done the trick. One before breakfast and one before lunch and now she is so much better. Might be owrth a try. Plus she loves them!!

Hug - sleep deprivation sucks. x

Poor Seb. I hope that you can get some treatment for the constipation and that solves some of the issues for you. We are also putting anbesol on G's gums, especially at night!

  • Re: Cranial Osteopathy sleep report

Sorry you had another rubbish night.  After a 10 day backlog I found gripe water helped get D moving again.
