My 13 year old nephew fell off a roof this evening. He was at the youth club and they kicked up a football, he went up but slipped and fell head first in to concrete. He has brain bleeding, internal injuries and multiple broken bones and they dont know if he will make it.
Latest is that he has now been airlifted to the biggest and best hospital in Sweden.
I am feeling so helpless being here in the UK while all this is happening back in Sweden. I have booked to fly home on Saturday(with H and Kit).
Please send all your vibes to Max, him not getting better is simply not an option and this is the only thing I can think of doing to help.
Update:
Max pulled through the night! They released the pressure on the brain last night and managed to stop the brain bleeding, and when they brought him around this morning all his reactions were normal and he even spoke a few words.
He is vomiting and passing blod, so they are now attacking his internal injuries in what could be a series of operations(I belive they were going to do doing exploratory surgery as soon as he was stable enough), but they hope one is enough. Finally they will focus on his broken bones(collar bone, arm and ribs being the worst as I understand it).
The relief that Max woke up and recongnised my family is unbelivable, and even though he is still critical, the percentage of survival and possible full recovery is so much higher than yesterday evening.
Thank you all so much for all your well wishes!
Update 2
Max was moved to the childrens ward today as they classify him as stable now!
He is still on constant monitoring due to severe concussion and a cracked skull from the crown to his jawbone. There has been no signs of brain damage thank God, but with the brain bleeding he did also leak spinal fluid, so it is still being monitored.
He is chatting away and complaining about having to use a "potty" though and is asking when he can go home! Thank goodness for robust little boys!
All his ribs are broken down one side, his collarbone is broken and so is his arm on the other side, so he will be in hospital a while longer. Max himself is mostly worried about his complete lack of hearing in one ear(perforated eardrum...can they heal?!) and he has also lost some vision in one eye.
All in all, everybody agrees he is one lucky wee boy as the outcome could have been so much worse!
to you all!
