  • Question about embryo transfer....TMI warning!

    Hi LadiesWave

Just a quick question about my ET tomorrow. I have been using the pessaries since last night, and alot of it seems to seep out the following morning. Will this effect the transfer, I mean will the stuff that is left inside me stop the Dr getting to where he/she wants? Will it get in the way of the transfer?

    Thanks Ladies

    BC xx

    Firstly, nothing TMI there!

Are you using cyclogest? We're always told to use them rectally, so that's an option, but before transfer they give everywhere a good clean out and only then pop the catheter in. Worry not!

Yes HollyBags they are cyclogest. Do they absorb better if they go up the bum then?

I always did mine vaginally... My consultant advised me not to insert one in the morning of transfer day, but to do it when I got back home, then continue in the evening and mornings from then on.

Absorption is the same whichever orifice you use, but there's no leakage if you go up the bum! I've always gone for the backdoor with cyclogest, much cleaner!

    Thanks Everyone x

Less leakage up the bum because it is *ahem* tighter.  Usually Wink  I took mine vaginally most of the time,  because I have IBS and didn't want to mess with that.  On the morning of ET, I was told not to insert - and my consultant took it from me and inserted it himself, right after ET.  Why not call your clinic to check first thing?

    Good luck with ET!

Oh and as HB said - that's not TMI.
