Would you buy this for your one year old?

  • Would you buy this for your one year old?

Izzy's birthday is next month and I'm trying to think what to get her (little things, she's getting a Smart Trike too).  I'm wondering about this, which is apparently for age 3+.  Me and my mum (who she sees lots of) drink lots of tea and we even sing her a little song about liking a nice cup of tea.  She does pretend if prompted to use her stacking cups as tea cups.  I'm just not sure if this is a waste of money at this point or not?  What do you think?

If you think she'll enjoy it then get it - are there any small bits that would be unsuitable for her? Or is the age 3+ just a guideline of suitability? The only thing that might concern me is that it might lead her to think that it's OK to pick up a real kettle...

We were given this as one of Holly's first birthday presents - it's a bit more pricey but might be a bit better for a one year old. It plays annoying tunes and everything...

I'd get it - I can't see what makes it 3+ to be honest.

Abigail has this one which is 6 months +, it's great although a bit more expensive

A has the ELC set http://www.elc.co.uk/toy/spotty-tea-set/   M loves playing with it (the blue set is advertised at 2+ and the pink at 3+ but they are the same as we have both, after getting one as a gift)

I'm another one who can't see why it is 3+.  I reckon it's just one of those guidelines to cover themselves - 'contains' small parts, and all that.

I would definitely get it.  Although we are another one with the Fisher Price set and we love that.

i'm sure she'd love it and i think it would just be the usual obligatory warning on it.  Tea sets are a firm favourite with our little one. We've got this one (I think) so if i were you i'd tip the box up next time you see it and see if it's noisy.  Ours is driving me slowly mad as if it's not perfectly upright (whose 1year old puts their toys back tidily?) it constantly makes a noise - there is no on/off switch. so BE WARNED !!!!

Izzy got this set http://www.emmabridgewater.co.uk/Pink-Hearts/Pink-Hearts-Boxed-Melamine-Dollies-Tea-Set/invt/hear486 for her 1st birthday and adores it. Little girls love tea sets. The M&S one you'd probably ditch the milk carton as it's bound to be cardboard, but the kettle and cups would be fab for a 1 year old.

I would get it and just take away any small bits that come with it.  TBH though, I can't see anything either that makes it 3+
