Ok, basically OH proposed on xmas day. We've not got huge amounts of money so decided to wait until May 2012 to have the wedding we both want. We found a great venue, and held the date we want. Its costing around £8000.00 - £9000.00 for 80 day guest and 150 evening guests.

Problem is I've gone and put a spanner in the works. I found another place near by, which also looks lovely (infact gardens look much better) and they have a special offer on at mo which is £5000.00 for pretty much the same as above. Problem is its for any available date on Friday, Saturday or Sunday this year. OH is planning to go see it today. He said we could afford to have wedding this year, and have Honeymoon next April, which I'm fine with. I'm just a little unsure about certain aspects of this new venue. Our venue will keep the buffet topped up, this new one will only allow it out for two hours due to hygiene (which I find odd!) The room the new venue have allocated for ceremony looks really small, and the aisle isn't centred in the room, so OH's family would have to sit on my side as well.

The new venue in question is the Ye Olde Plough in Essex, if anyone has been there or booked there, i would love to hear from you.

Is the first venue Orsett Hall?

I haven't looked at Ye Olde Plough but have driven past it and to me it doesn't look very 'special' from the front - does that make sense? I don't think I'm making myself very clear but like I said, I haven't looked around it so it may be completely different inside... It is a heck of a saving though so if you like it then go for it!

My first venue is De Rougemont Manor, I do love it there. The rooms are fantastic.

I'm just worried coz OH is now saying "but its £3000.00 cheaper!!!"

Ooh, I haven't seen either of those so can't really help you compare.

It's all very well it being £3,000 cheaper but that only helps of you can afford that this year without saving?

I'd say forget about the prices (if you think you could afford the extra £3,000 over the next two years) and go with the one you love.

Good point. I would like to think we could get married this year, but unfortunatley we just don't have the money yet. Hence waiting two years. OH is going there today, kinda hoping he doesn't like it!
