Am I being silly? Would you let him go?

Mr Snowball's best mate rang yesterday saying that he and his girlfriend were going to a steam train thing on Sunday and would Harvey like to go with them.  They are not kids, he is about 40 and she has teenagers from her marriage so they aren't irresponsible in the slightest and a nice couple.

I can't say yes though.  Harvey is four so no baby but it doesn't feel right, I just don't want him going off in someone elses car to a day out which is over an hour away from our home particularly as I am 36 weeks pregnant and if something happens then I won't know that he is settled with my mum which is one of my big worries over going into labour.

Am I being silly?  I think Mr Snowball thinks so but he hasn't been out without me apart from going to nursery or spending the day with his grandparents and even then, they haven't been on a day out.

Stupid things bother me like he isn't great at gonig to the toilet when he needs to, he dances and jigs about until desperate and what if they took their eyes off him and he got lost I'm a silly, weepy hormonal mess at the moment.

They are probably trying to give you a break! But if you don't feel comfortable about him being away for a whole day how about saying thanks very much but a whole day is a bit much, and maybe suggest they take him somewhere for a couple of hours some other time.

I think you are absolutely right, I would be a wreck worrying the whole time though  I think if they had said could they take him for a couple of hours and go to the park it would have been different.

It's about what you are confortable with.  If they are good friends I'm sure they will understand if you explain why.

Let him go and enjoy the peace! I'm sure they'll be overly cautious with him - i always am with other people's children. Just warn them about the toilet thing, and tell them to watch out for it. He'll have a ball and you can put your feet up. 

I don't think you're being silly at all.  If you're not comfortable with him going then say no.

If it were me, I'd be jumping at the chance to have someone else take J off my hands for a day.  I could've done with that when I was in the later stage of pregnancy last year.

I reckon he'd have a brill time and it's means that someone else, other than you is running around after him.  You could have a nice relaxing day, putting your feet up and doing what you want to do, whilst he's being entertained!

If it makes you feel any better I wouldn't want Aliya to have gone.  My mum and dad have taken Aliya out for the day without me, and Mr S's mum and sisters have as well, but I feel like not only do I know them really well, but Aliya knows them, and they know her really well too.

But I don't think I would be happy for her to go out with friends of mine, not without either me or Mr S being there too.

I don't think you're being silly either.  I wouldn't like Chase going out for day trip with anyone other than us or his grandparents.

I dont think you are being silly as its perfectly normal to feel like that but on the flip side think of the fun he will be missing out on if he doesnt go.
