when do you send out the invites?

Iam getting married on 27th August.  And i know a few people marrying around the same date have already sent out the invites.  When is it too soon (or even too late) to send the invites?

6mths in advance, at the very latest i would say 3mths... Especilly during summer hols or on a weekday wedding

My wedding is early August and my invites are going out first weekend in May. But then we sent out save the date cards so everyone knows when the wedding is anyway

Hi Emma - I'm just now sending mine and I'm 25th July so roughly a month before you. I've set an RSVP deadline of 25th May - 2 months before - as I wanted to be mindful of getting everyone's replies and food choices in before the venue deadline so I have enough time for the table plan, placecards etc!

I would send yours out probably mid to end of April.

I agree it depends on when the wedding is. Summer is a busy period for people so you don't want to leave it too late.

My wedding is mid-week December close to xmas so I'm sending mine end of August to make sure I beat all the xmas-party plans!

I was always told the rule is 6weeks to 3 months in advance, depending on when the wedding is. We sent save the dates and i know all the important people (close friends and family) know when it is anyway so ours are going out next month, 3 months in advance. 

I'm getting married 9th  April and sent our day invitations out the beginning of January so 3 months.  The evening one went out by the end of January

I'd say 3-4 months in advance

I don't belive in too early - why wait? 

I sent mine out first weekend of November for wedding in May.

we get married in april.....

we sent out the invites the beginning of feb with rsvp end of feb.......and night guests mid feb with reply mid march.

we didn't want to send them out too soon incase people forgot!!!

i didnt think there was such a thing as too early until my singer cancelled on us because she forgot!! and was invited to another wedding as a guest!

I'm getting married in August and we have already sent our save the dates. We were worried about people going on holiday too. We will be sending our actual invitations at the beginning of May.

Hiya, Im getting married in August and have just started sending my invites out this week. Does no harm to tell people the details early, especially in the height of the summer holidays!

I'm 20th August, and I just sent emails to those invited to the day telling them the date and venue with details of room booking and stuff. It's not perfect, but there you go. I can't go back in time and send save the dates when I should have done (ie once we'd booked the venue!) Anyone I didn't have an email addy for I'm just sending a simple letter by snail mail.

I know loads of people will think this is awful, but for those of us who are organisation impaired, sometimes good enough just has to be good enough!

Am on the invite trail though. Going to get them out asap. Good luck!

Well tradition is 6 weeks before so im going to have mine out then.  everyone knows when the wedding is who will be coming.  at the earliest mine will be 8 weeks before.  and im sending all out at the same time-day and evening.
