i no its a no-no but at the same it really wouldn bother me that much.  I was at a wedding before that a girl was ther in a white floaty floor length dress, a MASSIVE hat and a matching cream shawl.  There were quite a few people who just looked at her, tutted and said..."does she thinks shes the bride or something?" and no-one bothered about her.

I wouldn't let it spoil the day but yes, it would bother me.  I always thought it was just considered something you didn't do.

I also watched Four Weddings and thought it looked really odd! I don't think I'd be particularly bothered at the time (so many guests to talk to and I probably wouldn't be paying much attention to what they're wearing!) but looking back on the photos I think I'd be a little annoyed, particularly if they were a particularly close relative or friend.

    Yes it would bother me!

When my MUM (who is giving me away) told me she is wearing a floor length, ivory dress and continued to explain that she could wear again it if she got re-married I had the biggest bridezilla fit ever! Angry

Now that would bother me! So I take it back when I said no because some outfits wouldn't be acceptable to me!

I think yes I would be a bit peeved if someone wore an ivory gown to our wedding, it would probably be more of the principle that would annoy me but still. I would never do it. Cream/ivory suits is a different thing in my opinion, especially for summer weddings.

Yes definitely - just because EVERYONE knows to not wear White to a wedding, therefore if they do they are clearly seeking attention.

On Four weddings I didnt think she looked too bad at first but then when she was stood next to the bride she just looked riddiculous.

    It would ruin the photos.Devil

I think it would depend on the style. If it was something that you could wear as a wedding dress, then yes I would be bothered, but a trouser suit wouldn't bother me.  I just think that it is generally not the done thing to wear white/ivory to a wedding x

Although I wore a cream trouser suit to a wedding I wasn't seeking attention! Laugh

It wouldnt bother me at all unless said dress looked like a wedding dress!

Everyone knows who the bride is so i dont think it matters what colour anyone else is wearing!

I feel the same about black at weddings - if someone wants to wear black i dont see the problem!

So long as it wasnt a white dress it wouldnt bother me, and even then I wouldnt be too bothered at all, just think it showed a bit of cluelessness on their part! x

Wouldnt care at all and am pretty certain at least one person will on the day

And Mr and Mrs T lived happily ever after (well apart from when they were arguing or not talking to each other)

someone wearing cream wouldn't bother me, as it doesn't always scream "bridal"

however if someone wore bright white as per the irish girl on 4 weddings it does stick out a mile and i wouldn't be happy at all!!

  • Re: Would it bother you if...

I wore white to my daughters wedding, (she chose my dress). No way did it detract from the bride. She was stunning!
