  • Bust caterer!

    Hi,

I have just discovered that my caterer has gone bust.  We have lost a reasonably large sum of money and now have no caterer for our July wedding.  Is there any way I can claw any of the money back?  Any advice? Please...

  • Re: Bust caterer!

    Sorry to hear that.

Have you contacted them directly to find our your position, or wedding insurance may cover this if you have it.

Probably the only way to get your money back would be if you had wedding insurance?

  • Re: Bust caterer!

Thanks for that. We do have the caterers mobile number and his home phone number and address.  My fiance is trying to contact him.  As for the insurence- I could kick myself as we didn't get round to buying any.  I have now bought some!

I take it you didn't pay on Credit Card?? you should be covered some on this if you did

I took out insurance 2 weeks ago as I hadn't thought of it.. Hoping we dont use it, but your story has confirmed its a good idea to get it..

    good luck

Eeeek i feel your pain honey the bridal shop i bought my dress from went into liquidation and she left the lady who bought her stock and customers from her to sort it out, i ended up having to pay another £348 to get my dress as she hadnt paid the full ammount to the suppliers i didnt and still dont have wedding insurance and paid using debit card, but was able to claim money back under the visa chargeback scheme if you pay using another debit card you would claim using their corresponding scheme if they have one, in the end i got £208 back from visa, i could have registered a claim with the administrators too but after H2B's dad ( an accountant) looked through the paperwork for it he said she was oevr £100,000 in debt and only had £6000 assets so it would be highly unlikely i would get anything back from them.

Maybe you could try contacting consumer direct, they were an absolute godsend for me, their number is 01209 720333

You can also check out www.companieshouse.gov.uk to check out the status of the catering business

    goodluck x
