  • OT Colour combination...whats next?

    Cream Cupboards

    'Racing car green' tiles

    Cream Woodwork

    White Ceiling

    Pale stone floor

    ____________   walls.

    Fill in the blanks?? Please?

  • Re: OT Colour combination...whats next?

Cream or white. Yes boring but I think kitchens are best in a pale colour depending on the size. Or maybe a pale green but it could look a bit sickly.

Or a colour to match the stone floor.

    BRIGHT RED APPLIANCES :D

And then that's my perfect kitchen!

  • Re: OT Colour combination...whats next?

I would match the paint to the tiles and chose an accent wall and just paint that wall.  Then get bright red accessories for the things you keep on the side.

And Mr and Mrs T lived happily ever after (well apart from when they were arguing or not talking to each other)

I would probably go with a pale taupe colour to go with the floor. We have dulux Natural Hessian which is a lovely warm taupe colour.

    I like that idea.

I can't imagine red appliances and racing green tiles together.

I only asked about the walls  lololol. Appliances are all chrome and knick knacks are vintage enamel. Worktops are going to be oak.

PG - the walls are cream at the minute, but with all the other cream just a bit worried it might look a bit washed out. Still trying to find the matching cream tbh!

Pink alien - taupes nice too, we did pick up a stone but thought maybe too dark...

the room doesnt get any light and despite the windows we need to have the lights on all the time!  Painting the windows and getting cream venetian blinds.....

We have tried a few, but now considering the pale green or pale blue...... a dark green on the walls would not do the room any favours.

This is what it used to look like - tho the only thing we have changed so far are the units.

  • Re: OT Colour combination...whats next?

Ekkk no wonder you changed the units, it's so dark with all the wood. I still think a warm cream but I'm seriously crap at putting colours together. x

Pick up a tester of natural hessian - our kitchen is fairly dark, we have cream units, dark wood floor, sage green tiles and laminate oak look worktops and it looks lovely! I'm afraid I don't have any pics showing it all together.

We did paint it pale green initally but it didn't look right with the green tiles.

  • Re: OT Colour combination...whats next?

How about a pistachio green, used to have this in our kitchen.

  • Re: OT Colour combination...whats next?

i appreciate your reply all the same though....its so difficult. We used cupboard make over paint to do the cupboards and they look amazing, with lovely pewter handles and knobs.  We have a few tile samples on the floor (Lino was going to cost us almost 500 bucks and we could tile for cheaper!!)

Despite the two large windows, the nieghbours woodland overshadows our kitchen (I worry on a windy day!!)

That pic was from the selling brochure..... but yup it sooo dark, the windows and doors and blinds are that brown colour tooooo!

  • Re: OT Colour combination...whats next?

the hessians now on my list - im surrounded by paint catalogues!

    pistachio sounds nice too.

However, I dont want to 'copy' my mates colour scheme........ we have very similar tastes, lolol, and her kitchens green and beech..

    PA your kitchen sounds lovely.....

thanks for all your replies so far!

  • Re: OT Colour combination...whats next?

Make sure you post a pic when its done - sounds like it will be beautiful!

  • Re: OT Colour combination...whats next?

Heres a preview of some cupboards - this was the 2nd coat....

but will post more as it all develops :)  Sooo much cheaper than buying a whole new kitchen!
