O/Tish Ball

I'm very excited. I've just been invited to my first ever ball. Does anyone know what to wear for a ball? Do most people wear long or short? What colour for May?

I think traditionally, if it's down as "black tie" it's meant to be long, but (sadly imho) increasingly people are going shorter, and it now comes out about 60-40 for long.

As to what colour, a lot of people do wear black, no matter what time of year, but I don't think there's any diktat on that - so I'd go for something lighter and summer-y-ier!

BSB I can go for long then! Do they go for slimmer fitting or big skirts? I have just found one I like, but it's a lot of money.

If it were me I would go for a long skirt just simply because I never get to wear a glam dress.

I go to 3-4 balls a year (!) and try and wear something bright and cheery, so I really love that!

So you think something like that is ok Fancyfree? I have no confidence about what to wear for different occasions and get really worked up about it. Other ones I like:

they are all lovely (and for me very ball-esque) but I like the first the best (the teal) - also think it's maybe more summer (latespring!)y than the deep purple?

I like the first one too, which is probably why it  costs the most

i;m going to my first ever ball in may too and i have no idea what to wear either!!! i dont imagine i will go in a floor length number! something from coast will be all there getting out of me,lol
