  • <Sobs> Can she go to nursery with viral rash?

....I know her health is more important than anything but I really can't take time off this week.  If it's not Chicken Pox (50/50 chance, GP appointment at lunchtime) then it's a viral rash and I'm hoping that's not infectious.  She's OK in herself - no temp and is eating and drinking well.

I don't know, it's up to the Dr, and the nursery. If the Dr says she's still ok to go to school and can write a note to say she's not infectious I can't see why the nursery wouldn't let her come in.

As a childminder I'd still accept her if I knew it wasn't contagious.

Thanks *aims*.  I've just got to be more patient and wait to see the GP.

Sadly I would think not as if it is a viral rash it is obviously caused by a virus. My sons' nursery wouldn't have her. BUT when 1 son had a skin infection treated with antibiotics he was allowed to go - as this is not contagious, not being a virus.

Good luck, I would see what the doctor says about it.

Ella's nursery have taken her with a viral rash before now. I just explained that we'd seen the GP, that it wasn't pox and that she was fine in herself, just a bit snotty.

If GP says it's not pox and she is well enough to go I'd send her.

Have my fingers crossed for you that it's a simple virus

Joe had a rash in January which the doctor couldn't decide if it was viral, an allergy or heat rash... in the end he plumped for heat rash... with all that snow?

    Hope she's feeling better today.

Well the GP says it's mild Chicken Pox AND a viral rash.  There are only about 6 proper 'pox' and the rest is more viral looking so it's only a mild case and apparently this means she could get CP again Sad.

MrBoB has managed to beg a day off work tomorrow so I can go to work and I have just got to pray that she crusts over Ick! by Thursday when I'm due in again.......

Little poppet is absolutely fine and dandy otherwise.

Sorry it wasn't good news, but just wanted to give you a positive - I had CP as a child with only 6 spots and no "illness" to speak of. Mum was warned I could get it again, but I never did. Once pregnant, I had to find out if I was immune (due to work related stuff) and I am....so obviously the few spot variety can provide immunity.

HOpe she's better soon tho x

Oh that's interesting to know Incognito, thank-you.

I have opposite experience to incognito: My BF's little girl has very mild chicken pox last year with a handful of spots. Three weeks ago she had chicken pox again but very bad this tmie was covered in angry spots & was miserable for 5 days. 2 weeks later her 9 month old got it, very bad again. There seems to be a very bad strain of chicken pox going around atm where many chidren who have already got chicken pox are reinfected.
