  • How did you feel in the days running up to the birth?

As I was induced with my first, I have no idea how I'd be feeling in the few days prior to going into labour.

I suspect my body is doing all the things it should be doing, and I certainly didn't have any of this stop start BH's/contractions with M, nor did I have a show, which I have had this time around. My boobs are also leaking furiously and it feels like I need to feed - that sort of warm tingly sensation.

I know, in truth, there isn't anything I can do really, and everyone's different, but just after a bit of perspective as I've completely lost faith in my body getting me to proper labour as it didn't even bother trying the first time, and this time it's stalling just as it's getting going.

Not much help to you as I felt completly normal - didn't have any signs labour was going to start until about 30mins before I had a show and my waters broke!

Hope things pick up for you soon x

I had a gradual show over a few days (proper one when was definitely in labour) and started getting more back ache - which I put down to carrying the bump around - a couple of days before, a bit like early AF symptoms.

First time I didnt really have niggles other than some very dull period pain in the leading up weeks and bits a show for about a week. I had backache the day before my contractions started but nothing significant.

This time I feel like I've been stop starting for ages! BHs have been for weeks and getting so strong I'm virtually always on the edge of wondering how far I let them go before I panic, think it's just because everything feels so different! I'm so restless right now which I didnt feel before, every night I cant sit down and I'm uncomfortable no matter what position I'm in other than in the bath!

I hope it's not too far off for you x

Laugh It really is a how long is a piece of string questions isn't it?!?

Well, my body is doing something, so that's positive. And there isn't much else I can do, I literally did everything in my power yesterday to get him out, he's obviously not ready just yet and is enjoying teasing me!

Well, I was a week overdue so in that time I felt totally and utterly fed up. Youspend 9months looking forward to a date then that date passes you by and your baby isn't here...so upsetting. I was tired, and desperate to meet my baby. Everyone on the 3rd tri thread was having babies and I wasn't.

Physically I had a show the Friday before my due date (Tues), and had been having BH for weeks before then. I had back ache and twinges but nothing happened for what seemed like a lifetime.

KB3, that sounds like what's happening here.

And it's not been helped by literally everyone saying that he'd be here by this weekend, even my midwife has poo poo'd the idea of S&S (having it tomorrow, ha to you MW!) and induction saying that I definitely won't need either. Baby has been as low down as he can get without being born for about 2 weeks. I've had enough now and I know I could be in for more than a week of this still...

Even the MW that saw me on Friday at the birthing centre was sure I was in labour and was shocked with upon examining me my cervix was only just opening. But even she reckoned he'd defintely be a due date baby (which was Saturday).

It's all such a let down

With hindsight the only sign I was about go into labour was bad back ache for a couple of days before, at the time I just thought it was because I was heavily pregnant. I didn't have a show and my waters didn't go.

my first labour was 2 weeks late, and my waters didn't break...it all took days from a build up of contrations after having had shows weeks before. Incredibley frustrating. I had been ill with flu and had had no sleep. The stretch and sweep did nowt. And the weird MW who came to my house told me I was not in labour, despite my regular contractions. I had enough and went to hospital the next day, And the labour took 12 hours to go from 6cm to birth, including an episiotomy,

second time round was very very different.I felt fine, a bit tired but alright! WE'd been out for an indian meal that night. I got to sleep but felt weird. My waters broke at 5am after feeling some period pains and a weird click/popping sensation....I was only 37 weeks. I got to hospital at 9 am and was gutted to be only 3cm...however...and hour and half later he whooshed his way into the world quite unexpectedly fast! Hoorah!

I know how frustrating it can be, not knowing whats going on...what signs are real and whats just in your head...or just wishful thinking!

aims I was the same as you no idea what to expect. On Friday I was very tearful and in a fowl mood.

I was expecting a show which i never had but did have lots more clear.cloudy CM.

Once the pains started coming I just knew.

Hope things get started soon. x x x

    Thanks girls. Still here...

This bit is the pits, but I know that once he's here I'll have forgotten all about it and be wondering what exactly all the fuss was about!
