buying wedding dress online?

Anyone done this? Or planning to do it?

I'm planning on buying online and just wondering if it's a good idea.

Anyone got any experiences to share, good or bad?

Also, has anyone bought from yourbridalwear.com? This is where i'm planning on getting my dress so particularly interested if anyone has any experiences of that?

I did indeed buy my dess online - from Landy Bridal.  Made to measure plus speedy shipping from China and VAT came to around £165.  I it.  Very well made.

A few people have ordered from Light in the Box too and have been happy.  A few people have looked at yourbridalwear and are planning to rder form them.  I think the only one who has orderd from them so far is Moonpig.  She got married about a week ago and her fress looked lovely.

Although i already know the dress i want, just far too expensive in the shops. But i've heard good reviews about yourbridalwear onn other forums, so might just go for it. If it's not what i expect it to be i could always go for a shop dress, just that i really want that dress and it looked amazing in the shop when i tried it on and it made my mum cry and even i started welling up which is unusual for me LOL

GB, it's maggie sottero adelaide, looked on landy and dont think they copy maggie dresses.

Decided i'm definately going to order it online, sooo much cheaper. But when would be a good time to get it? Wedding isn't until 19th maarch 2011 :(

i havent seen anywhere that do the maggie sottero's online as i've been half looking too (to compare with shop ones ive tried on) so if anyone has seen them i'd be pleased to know too! light in the box don't (as far as i can see) but i am getting my BM dresses from there. the only sites i've found selling MS dresses seem to be in the america but once you factor everything in and the shipping, there's not that much difference to what you'd pay here.

ps kirsty, i'm may 2011 and the dress shops have all told me to order by november this year in order to give them time for ordering in and for alterations etc - so i guess the same would apply for buying online. the only worry i'd have is leaving it that late if i got it online and it was terrible you'd then have less time to sort a replacement. so i'm looking to buy mine over next 3-4 months. but i am a worrier when it comes to the dress as it's my top priority!!!! xx

Mine was a made to measure dress (though it was still big) and from ordering to receiving was around 28 days!  No-where near as long as the real deal.

I ordered mine in December and it arrived in January. Wedding is May. 

ve just been on my first ever visit to the dress shop i liked two but i cant decide does this mean neather of them are the one?

yourbridalwear.com do maggie dresses, so i'd try  that one. I have heard good reviews too :)

And i know what u mean about worrying, my mum always says i'm not happy unless i have something to worry about lol

You won't "like" it you will "love" it and want to try it on again and again, you will know the one when you find it :)

I have a few weeks to wait, feels like forever. its like being pregnant again lol!

Hi There.  I ordered my dress yesterday from you bridalwear.com.  I  am quite nervous but the feedback I've seen is really positive so hopefully it will be a good gamble.  I should have the dress  at the start of May so I will keep you posted.  If all is ok, I will be saving almost 1500 pounds and I know too many brides who have regretted spending what equates to a great holiday on a dress that they could only wear for one day.    i'm keeping everything crossed!
