  • table and chairs set - recs please

Now that our dining room appears to have made the permanent transition into a playroom (Bawl it was only a matter of time) we are thinking about getting one of these for Immy's first birthday.  Can anyone recommend?  I know the Ikea ones are popular and good value for money but are there any others I should be at least considering?

    Thanks x

I am often looking on the GLTC website at all the lovely table and chair sets they have. But they're out of my price range.

We at the moment, have the bog standard ikea one, which I wouldn't recommend, as although it does the job brilliantly, it's got marked up very easily, and the groves make it very hard to keep entirely clean.

If it's for a playroom and not for in the lounge like ours is, I would get the Mamult range which is completely wipeable and the table it a decent size should there be more than one sat around it doing painting for example.

Another place, is John Lewis - they're tables and chair sets are lovely, but again are along the same lines at the GLTC prices, so it depends on how much you have to spend.

we got this one from GLTC when it was on offer a while ago. It is lovely (& storage v handy) but with hindsight I'd prob have got one with 3 or 4 chairs rather than just 2. I loved these ones when we were last in ikea (table and chairs)

I have a gorgeous GLTC set but they don't seem to do it any more, and it was quite pricey. Given that S has had her playroom for a year now I can definitely recommend a white table of any kind (it gets wiped down all the time and a coloured one might show scrubbed patches too easily?) and plastic chairs (perfect for lunchtime spills and accidents).

Just to say our chairs are on fleabay atm: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/GLTC-Childrens-Kids-Rainbow-Stacking-Chairs_W0QQitemZ200448740428QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_HG_ChildFurniture_RL?hash=item2eabad0c4c

V Pricey but they are REALLY sturdy, I can sit on them no problem. Plus they are stackable.

If you are happy with cheap and cheerful Wilkinsons do a table and chair set. The chairs are about £5 and the table about £12 and they work fineBig Smile

We got the Ikea ones - does the job brililantly - it was in the 'sale' section too so, not only was it only £12, it was already made up saving me hours of stress!  (I should also mention that whilst varnishing it, which is essential if it's not going to get scribbled over permanently, I knocked the varnish over on the carpet thus it's turned out to be quite an expensive item but that's my fault , not Ikea's!

Thanks so much for these everyone.  I'm gonna have a good look through them soon.  Sorry it's taken me so long to get back - I've been caught up in the dramas of returning to work and now the kids are ill.  Arrrrrrggghhhh.

The Mamult range is what we've got, blue rectangle table and 3 purple chairs, all bought at the nct sale for £8, bargainous and seem to do the job perfectly Smile
