  • Q for recurrent m/c kleek

Hug to you all.  Got a question one of you may be able to advise on.  My poor poor friend has lost her 3rd consecutive baby today, all under 6 weeks. This time, it's an ectopic.  She's not asking this yet (gok she has other things on her mind Cry, but in case she does, I'd like to be able to help her out with info immediately.

Do you know whether in counting three miscarriages for referral for investigations, is an ectopic pregnancy "counted"?  TIA.

  • Re: Q for recurrent m/c kleek

I haven't had an ectopic but as far as I know it counts as a failed pregnancy and therefore warrants investigation.

My sympathies to your poor friend x

Not technicaly part of the kleek having only had the one m/c thankfully but I can tell you from a professional point of view, that yes it does count. If she finds that she is being told no by any health professionals (and I'll be amazed if she is) then seek me out and I'll see if I can help you out.

Am an NHS insider and it does have the occasional benefit.

Hug to your friend, a very close friend of mine has also just lost her 3rd pregnancy.

    Xx

Thank you all - I'm "pleased" it counts.  I'm not sure about #1, but #2 and #3 have each taken a year to conceive, and she was just about to see a fertility specialist when she fell pregnant with this one, so I'm guessing she may be keen to get things investigated. I feel so sorry for her Cry

  • Re: Q for recurrent m/c kleek

Is she the kind who would want to devour info about these things? Would she appreciate the Lesley Regan book (mine's out on loan at the moment but someone else may have a copy)?

I wish her the best of luck if she tries for #4 (my number 4 being read to sleep upstairs by Daddy right now). Also if you think I could help/listen at all I would be only too comfortable to do that x

    Hug to your friend

yes 3 'failed' pregnancies count as a refferal, i only know this as i had a patient at work who had had 5 mc and not been investigated as she had moved areas in between and had not been followed up.  i said to her about the investigations etc and she was totally unaware, so she was 'pleased' that she could eventually start the investigation process.

    Thanks CP.

Madonna, you are a lovely lovely woman Hug I think she's actually in theatre as I type, so it's too early for me to know whether she's going to want to hit the books.  My gut feel is she'll just want a good gynae to guide her through it... but as we all know, finding the right person for that can be very hit and miss.  I'll bear the book in mind - I'd happily buy her a copy if it will help her. Thank you so much for your offer, I'm hoping to go to see her (if she's up to it) over the weekend, so will chat to her then.  I tried to get her on Hitched a while ago - I may try again.

Hug to your friend, how awful for her.

I just wanted to second the recommendation for the Lesley Regan book, I found it hugely comforting to be reading about m/c and the possible causes as well as about the investigations they carry out after recurrent m/c. I read it soon after my 3rd m/c as I was craving info although I appreciate not everyone feels this way.

Good luck to her and you sound like a lovely friend Hug
