Honest opinions on this girls name please

I know both a Summer and a Ruby born last year and like both names. Ruby is getting very very popular now.

Summer was born at the beginning of July and it really suits her. Her big sister is called Harriet!

I like SUmmer but wouldn't use it personally. I don't hate Ruby but think its a bit too popular now.

What about Evie?

Joking aside, what about Elsie or Erin or Isla? xxx I all of these! x

I love the name Summer and think it would be lovely on both a child and would suit (what I imagine would be a charming) adult woman!

I like both names but prefer Summer as it is a little less common that Ruby at the moment.

I love Summer - beautiful name! I quite like Ruby, feel mainly neutral towards it I think, although have others said, it is becoming very popular so it depends whether that is an issue for you.

I like Summer in the abstract but wouldn't use it.  To me it doesn't fit the plumber / prime minister or beautician / barrister test. 

Ruby seems to fit better with your other children's names too.

I adore the name Summer.  In fact, I was very nearly called Summer as I was 3 weeks late in a very hot summer according to my mum.... thank goodness my idiot father bullied her into naming me otherwise as my surname is now Summers .  I think it's gorgeous and TBH don't think any more 'out of swing' than Ruby with your other names.

Out of the two i prefere Ruby.

I love the name Summer - I know 2 of them and they both really suit their name.

I wouldn't say it's unusual now though, i'm sure it was in the Top 20 baby names last year (in Scotland anyway)

I prefer Ruby, it was on my shortlist for Sophie, but H vetoed it.  It doesn't matter if it's becoming more popular does it?  But then I have a Jack and a Sophie, so you can probably tell I don't care much about names being 'too popular'! (which I don't get anyway - they're popular because people LIKE them)   Ruby seems to 'fit' more with your other names.  But Summer is quite lovely too.
