How 'long' were your babies at birth?

It says in my pregnancy book that the baby will be around 51cm/20inches long at birth - surely not, that looks huge?!

Olivia was 54cm!

My youngest was 52 cm, my eldest wasn't measured but was  certainly <50cm.

The measurement is from the tip of their head, down to their heel, but with their legs stretched out, so it seem bigger than they are if that makes sense, as they never lie like that when they're tiny.

You think 51cm is long - Isla was measured at 60cm

I'm not convinced she was that long, although she is tall. My H & MIL measured her at Christmas when she was 6 weeks old and they thought she was 57cm, however she is well over 60cm now, whatever her length was at birth (is now 17 weeks)

Makes more sense that it's their 'stretched out' measurement so to speak.

R boy born at 39 wk was 52cm, A girl born 39 weeks 50cm

B was 59cm at birth. When they weighed him they couldn't understand how come he weighed 8 and a half punds when he was so skinny. He then unrolled his legs and the midwife went 'aha'!

They don't measure them here, so I'm not sure about O, but he was teeny and fitted into the tiny baby sized stuff perfectly for weeks despite being 'too big' for them according to his weight.

I know I was 44cm long when I was born (7lb 4oz), but I am fairly short. 5'3(just!)

sarah was 50cm and so was I apparently!

Noah was 52cm long

Olivia was 50cm long when she was born at 37 weeks.

Apparently I was 62cm! A very long baby!
