  • Writing on your children

Following on from the thread the other day about using reins and toddlers running off, I remembered something my uncle in law told me.  He said that in Sydney (where he now lives) it is considered normal to write your mobile number and name onto your child!  I guess that makes sense, if your LO gets lost then you will be reunited faster.

I wonder if you have to write it on their head .........

Interesting idea...not sure mine would stay still long enough for me to write it!

A friend gave me the same tip a while ago. I haven't done it yet but will do so if we go to a crowded place.

Thats funny you should say that as I bumped into a lady I used to nanny for and after losing sight of her LO at an open air event her and her hubby have started up a new business selling stick on transfers that have your mobile no on and you stick them onto your childs hand incase they wander off.

I thought it wouldn't work but reading this, maybe it will?!

I've bought some little wristbands from Boots that are a similar sort of idea. You write your number on it and your child wears it when you're out in case they get lost.

  • Re: Writing on your children

I've heard of them as labels that are stitched into clothes like name tags I suppose

When I was childminding, I use to write my mobile number on their arm under the msg call this number if I'm lost.

You can get wristbands that have the same principle.

  • Re: Writing on your children

I nearly bought MrDL some wristbands with: 'If found collapsed in a gutter please return to....' for his drunken nights out. So I think the wristband thing is a good one.

I think GMTV where giving away wrist bands for this purpose last year.

we went out with the childrens centre in half term and they had wrist bands like that for all the kids

  • Re: Writing on your children

At places like Legoland you can get stickers to write your moby no on. You're supposed to put them on the child's back so they can't take them off themselves...

We use the wrist bands when going to crowded places and on holiday, also when at Butlins last year they were giving them out on the first day.

  • Re: Writing on your children

DrDL Weep you could try writing on him!!

Sounds like tagging your child is quite widespread, it does make me think of Paddington Bear though!

Apparently I was a toad for running off when I was a toddler, Mum thought that putting me in a pushchair would stop me running away.  Not a chance I tipped it forward and disappeared tortoise style! ROTFL

A family I used to lodge with used to write their mobile numbers on their childrens arms if out at an 'event' or similar.

Down here in Bournemouth there is a similar scheme that issues wristbands to children on the beach - the colour denotes what area they should be in or where they should be returned to if lost!
