  • Quinny Zapp?

I need a new pram. My lovely lovely big pram has had one problem too many and it has been replaced with a different fab pram but i think that as Arlo is almost 18mths old it would be a waste to use it. We are also going away soon and i need a buggy. So we played with the zapp and loved it. What do you think about one for an 18mth old? Are they suitable for doing lots of walking? (mainly on road) And for abroad? Is the no recline a problem? I was also thinking of the zia (havent played with one but played with bruin style one and wasnt impressed) but havent read great reports... Thanks girls x

hi i have a zapp im selling in black i brought mine for hols and to leave in the boot as i had a small car and its ideal its very light weight aswell xx

I've had a Zapp for J since about 6 months, as a small buggy for keeping in the car, and it's fab. The only thing I would warn you about is that if I hang stuff on the back and let go, it can tip over, especially now he is bigger. He is just looking too big for it now at 27 months, although he is 91st centile anyway. But resilient, nice to push and good value (especially if bought second hand like mine!)

We have one for Isobel becasue it was one of the only buggies that would fit in my Ka (have since changed car).  My friend has a similar buggy but does recline and I wish I'd gone for that instead.

i dont have one so am commenting purely on seeing in shops  and trying it there but we felt it wasn't particularly sturdy and although yes it folded small it was a bit of a bugger to fold, i however have small hands and i found the last bit you pull out at the bottom hard to do

personally i would highly recommend a maclaren quest its very sturdy has a recline has umberella fold using foot so v easy and has the strap on it which is great to sling it over your shoulder whilst your hands are full

we also have a old style maclaren volo which is mega light and great for summer with its mesh seat as not as hot it doesnt recline though

ps- am i right in thinking you are preston way? if so we are having a Blackpool Zoo meet on 17th march if you fancy it.

its half price for FY1-8 and PR3 and PR4 as well in march if that would apply to you

so far we have me, wren, katamari and tinks coming aiming to meet at about 11am what a good way to celebrate your bday with a hitched meet!

  • Re: Quinny Zapp?

I have the zia as we bought it for a holiday buggy and wanted one that reclined - which to be honest has been pretty pointless as she is much too nosey to sleep in the pushchair. We do use it all the time now so I can fit other stuff in the car boot rather than just pram. The zia seems to have q low handles - I'm only 5"5 and find it q low so not sure if zap is the same.

I've just spent this morning going around 3 different shops looking for a stroller.

I have ruled out the Zapp as I found the folding really complicated, yes it folds up really small but unless that is a requirement I don't think it's that good.  I also looked at the Zia which I much preferred but Zoe looked quite slumped in the seat and it doesn't go very upright which she seemed to find frustrating.

At the moment the Maclaren Quest is the front runner except that I don't want one .... I have no reason for this, just like to be a bit different.

Apologies for lack of capital letters - Zoe has stolen my shift key Huh?

I was fortunate enough to get a 2nd had zapp for £15 but I would never have paid full price for it.  It's been great as a base for the cabriofix but as a stroller I hate it.  It doesn't recline or have a shopping basket.  It's wider than you think so I keep banging into the aisles when shopping and it's too lightweight so yes, it's easy to tip particularly when LO is still quite small and light.

I've never found it a problem to fold and unfold, I use my foot to open and collapse the last part.

I am actually always amazed to see so many out on the streets!

Personally I wouldn't touch the Zia/Bruin one with a barge pole. I bought one three months ago to use for the same type of thing as you plan. The first one I got from Nursery Value (it was a reworked one) but when we got it the front wheel mechanism was broken so sent it back. That was quite a pilava and decided to go somewhere else as their customer service was shocking.

I was in Toys R Us and seen the Bruin one (exactly the same just rebranded for Toys R Us) for a good price so I bought that. The first time I used it I noticed it had a massive crack across the folding mechanism on the handles so that went straight back. They only had one other left and it had the same problem.

Also after trying the Zia I kind of preferred the Zapp because of the small folding but I was put off small buggys all togther and am still using my bigger one.

well ive just been to try one again and was disappointed that it didnt clip when folded.. i think that was what tipped it as cant really afford to be paying out for all the additional extras to make it useable x gah!

Jellybaby - it is so frustrating isnt it!!! and i cant even find a zia to try!! Im off to play with maclarens tomorrow...much to my disappointment Laugh

I had one and sold it because it didn't recline.

However I now have a http://www.babyjogger.com/city_mini_lp.aspx and it is brilliant, one of my favourites (and I've had 14! Laugh)  The fold on it is fantastic (there's a video on the website), Tate always looks comfy in it, it reclines and pushes lovely, even with one hand.  I'd definately recommend it!

I tried the Zapp (we have the quinny buzz) and didnt really like it.  There was nowhere to store any shopping (have previously been told it tips easily if you put anything on the handlebars), it doesnt recline and felt really wobbly (that might have just been because it was the store one).

I had a Maclaren for my eldest and loved it, really easy to use and push and did everything I wanted it to do.

I am now struggling to find a smaller buggy for my youngest (nearly 2 years old).  She is quite tall for her age so all the umbrella style (silver cross. Maclaren etc) mean that her feet scrape on the floor or the wheels.  Have been looking for ages now for a different one!  She does walk sometimes but when I do a long walk she has no chance lol.  She also sometimes sleeps in the buggy if we are out and about so needs one that reclines.

I quite like the loola but we have no shops locally that sell them so we cant try one out, it would have to be a case of buying it and hoping its ok.

I am off to look at the one Alaina mentioned because the feet are far away from the wheels and floor!
