  • Your dress versus what your OH thinks you're wearing

Inspired by GB's talk of her H2B thinking she's wearing a red dress - what are you wearing versus what does your OH currently think you're wearing?

I don't have a flash (rubbish I know), but my dress is a very glam, 1930s Hollywood inspired number in silk with a bit of french lace to finish.

OH has been told that I'm wearing a grey polo neck dress, covered in doilies and I'm wearing rhinestone encrusted stilts so that I don't look too small.  I'm still trying to find a picture of a fugly wedding dress that I can 'accidentally' leave lying around the house to confuse him even further.

only my mum has seen the style of dress i'm having so she's going around telling everyone it's pink with yellow spots (or sometimes the other way around) so i think everyone is actually going to end up being a little bit disappointed now!!!!!!

No idea what my OH thinks Im having. I did make the mistake early on of asking what kind of dress he would pick for me (inspired by dont tell the bride!)  He picked 3 or 4 that he liked that were fishtail dresses, which just prompted me to go into a strop as my hips are far too big for something like that!!

He probably thinks that I am wearing some really figure hugging dress, so I hope he wont be disappointed with my a-line choice!

Heehee!  He was just talking one day, can't remember what about really but when he mentioned something like "I don't think you'd wear a red dress, your far too traditional about weddings" I made a kind of face and then he panicked.  And so now he's a bit unsure...  Stick out tongue

Other than, I don't know what he expects me to be wearing.  Personally, I think everyone will expect me to be wearing a princessy type dressed with quite a few sparkles when in fact, there ain't a single sparkle on my dress!!!

I might see if I can get him to write his prediction in a sealed envelope for me to open the morning of the wedding since by then it's too late to do anything different!  Smile

H2B has seen my dress, sent him a pic when I first tried the finished thing on. was too excited to hide it haha. not supertitious at all and i don't know how i would have kept it a secret! can't imagine how those of you with 1-2 years to go can keep it quiet!x

My H2B is so good- my dress is hanging in its bag in our room until its altered in the summer and has been for about 7 months and he has not once been tempted to peak. He is very funny about these things- he doesnt want to know anything! He wont see my flowers, jewellery, veil, hair- nothing! He can get a general idea of shape though from the bag.

I think people in general will expect me in a big princess dress or a modern number when in fact I have gone for very classic and very sparkly a-line.

Before we got engaged, i'd always laugh at the women on TV with the princess/meringue type dresses. Well he's going to have an awful shock because since we've been engaged I have fallen in love with the majority of Princess dresses I've looked at.

I asked him the other day, and he said well I know what it wont be!! hahaha Wrong!!! I just hope he'll like what I do eventually choose!

I reckon everyone thinks I've gone for strapless and sparkly with a short veil and a tiara where as in fact I've gone for thick off the shoulder straps and not a sparkle in sight, well on my dress anyway because my long veil has sparkles and there will be sparkles in my hair by way of a hair vine, not a tiara.

ummmm my oh actually picked my dress!!lol I was looking at dresses on the internet trying to get inspiration, asked him to have a look and he picked that one!! went and tried it on (sent him to gamestation while i was in the dress shop), fell in love with it and bought it!!!

I already had an ebay dress but the shape didnt suit me and when i put it on after to show oh he hated it!!

  • Re: Your dress versus what your OH thinks you're wearing

My H2B thinks that i am wearing a tea length 1950's style insipred dress in cream with a fascinator and peep toe shoes as that is the sort of thing i go for normally and have always said that i love the look.  He told me this the other wek when i pinned him down about what he thought i would be wearing.  He said there is no way i would wear a traditinal full length dress.  What i am actually wearing is a pink (so he got the colour wrong - although it is an antique pink so please dont think of  me looking like Jordan!), full length (so he has the wrong length) got loads of beading on it (he thinks it is plan).  In others words he is going ot have the surprise of his life, but in a good way as he has alays said he wants me to look like a bride.

And Mr and Mrs T lived happily ever after (well apart from when they were arguing or not talking to each other)

My OH hasn't really commented on what he thinks I'll be wearing. Although he keeps saying to me that he doesn't like veils or long trains. I keep telling him that I've already decided what I want & although I'm not gonna have a veil (nothing to do with his opinion) I am gonna have a long train!

Bethan ~ I've tried to find out about getting a hair vine but I can't really work out what it'll look like. Do you have a picture you can share?

  • Re: Your dress versus what your OH thinks you're wearing

He thinks (because my mum, sister and I keep dropping it into coversations when he's about) that I'm wearing an Orange knee length puff ball dress.

(we are having great fun with that one!) ;-)

Good thread! I've told OH my dress has see through panels on the corset and lots of bling!!! A MASSIVE skirt and 20ft train! Last week I bought a headband and told him it was a tiara and his face fell......I think he's thinking Jordan-stylee giant tiara!!! He even said "Are you kidding?" and me and my friend replied "No, why?" Laugh

What I actually have is a very fitted style with a fair bit of detail and a tiny train! He saw the bag so he must know it's not huge but I'll keep winding him up anyway coz it's fun!

A 'respectable' married lady since 08/05/2010!
