  • Can you imagine living with your face like this?

Poor Phoebe's sore face (by stephalie1977)

My poor baby. And apparently this is eczema? She has similar on her bottom as well. I want to cry for her Sad We have an appointment to see a dermatologist in just under 2 weeks but there is nothing we can do in the meantime.

I have posted her face before but it's now worse. It's disrupting her sleep at night and she's not as happy as she usually is. People stare at her. I feel like a horrid mother.

Bless her hope the dermatologist finds something to help her and you are not a horrid mummy you are doing everything you can for her.Hug

Oh poor little poppet!  Hug I hope the dermatologist sorts something out for her.  Is exzema just some type of allergy or something else?  I've not had any experience of it myself.

My friend's little boy has it over his body and they have to use special stuff in the bath etc, but I suspect it's a little different when it's on her face

Oh you poor things, I really do sympathise, my youngest had very similar when he was tiny, we'd get stared at a lot when out, his whole face looked like it had been badly burnt. It looks so sore, must be so horrible for her Cry

Have you got anything to put on it at all?

I had a mind once, now I have small children.

  • Re: Can you imagine living with your face like this?

Thanks girls. We're currently not using anything on it as the last lot of cream made it worse and the antibiotics didn't seem to make any difference.

Oh the poor thing Hug. I hope the dermatologist can help her.

FWIW I've had pretty horrific eczema on my face before now and I can understand how awful the stares are. It did get better though with a carefully tailored skin care regime.

    Big hugs Hug

I'd be inclined to go back to the GP and ask for something just to soothe it, 2 weeks is a long time. Were you given a very basic emolliant to try? What has she been prescribed so far? The reason I ask is we went through numerous creams, gels etc before finally seeing another Dr (I think it was the 4th) who seemed to know what he was talking about.

That is awful, it looks so sore. And look at her still smiling away, wee love. Hope you get something to help soon xxx

We've tried various creams, most recent being diprobase ointment and then dermablend(?) which was a mild steroid cream. Both made it worse. We've been told to leave it be though I do have a prescrtiption for antibiotics I can collect if I want to. She's still happy enough most of the time but it is obviously bothering her. I think the doctors are reluctant to keep trying things without further advice.

    Thank you allx

We had all those (FWIW, the GP who ended up sorting it out was v against using steroids), this is what ended up helping, it has no active ingredients , is v v basic, it really really helped though. You can buy it, but we get it prescribed, you can wash them with it, then apply directly to the skin too. Just a thought, incase you do end up having to go back before your appointment x

The doctor did warn us that it could make it worse so it wasn't a complete shock at least. Thanks Japnart....I think that's what they currently wash with? But I'd need to check...we get it in big tubs. As well as diprobath in their water, the cream to wash with and another cream for after the bath.
Amy's never had anything like this. And Phoebe's bottom cleared up with Timodin cream last time. I just wish I knew what was triggering it as much as anything else

Sorry not read all the posts...my son's neck was like this when he was exposed to cows milk - have you tried to remove this from her diet. Eczema is an imune response to things like cows milk and although can be treated really well by smothering with creams and avoiding soaps the best way is to cut out the offending food. You could try  soya maybe for a week or 2 to see how it goes maybe?

Hope she fels better soon.......Tom looked like he'd been hung with a rope round his neck it was that bad. I saw some people who hadn't seen him and left in tears at their shocked comments...whereas we had gradually gotten used to it.
