  • Anyone else disappointed with Tumble Tots? & what groups does your toddler do a week?

It feels like we are paying alot of money (£6.50 a session) for not alot really.

At first it was good for E, it helped build his confidence,  but it seems the same every week.  Some weeks they put the equipment up differently, but its still pretty much the same, and they have the sticks and traffic cones out every week, then the balls, which was the only bit he liked.

I was bored, he was bored, so I'm not going to take him anymore.

Hmm... I hope I don't get a fine or something for pulling out halfway through the year.

So I need to find something else to take him to.  What do you do with your toddler?  I am tempted to just do another toddler group. we do one on Weds which is mainly play but there is a more musical toddler group near us too.

I only went on a trial session and it didn't suit us. At the time L wasn't that confident on her feet (she didn't walk until 20 months), the teacher 'assisted' her to climb he A frame which she really didn't want to do and was crying and frightened.I know some kids love it but it wasn't for us.

We went to a Rhythm Time classes which really suited her and a standard mum and tots group.

We only do toddler groups and if i am off on a friday we go to a singing dancing group which cost 2 pounds oh i take him swimming once a week too x

I went to a trial session when Maddie was just about starting to walk and neither of us enjoyed it enough to go back.

I run a music and dance session once a week and the transformation in the children is amazing, they go from not wanting to leave their mum's laps to dancing around all over the place squealing with laughter and learning a fair few songs to go with it. They learn coordination from the dance moves, and discipline from having to do things in a certain order and understand they can't just do what they want, but have the opportunity to act freely as they wish when dancing about.

I won't hesitate in taking no.2 to something like that rather than a tumble tots type environment, the difference in activity levels can soon be made up by a trip to the park for free!

We only did the trial session but I wasn't that impressed tbh so didn't sign up. Have you got a Gymboree near you? T does that and loves it!

Near to us is a jump & jiggle class ran by the local leisure centre, it is very well run, different activities, songs, stories etc, each week is different & the kids love it.

I have to pay in advance per half term (approx 6 sessions) so if I stopped going I'd lose that money, then not join at next term. Do you pay at each session?

We also go to a toddler group which again has lots of toys, a craft activity each week & chance to catch up with people.

You should only go if you & your LO enjoy & feel some benefit from it.

I did sign up for tumble tots as my daughter wasn't very confident in climbing so thought she would eventually really enjoy it.  Every week she would come away in tears where they would make her climb the ladder and would tell me to leave her to do it for herself, got to the stage where I dreaded going, Also was always told that they would only have 17 in a class so to make sure I signed up, every week there was 20+ children.

We now go to a movement class where they do skipping and dancing etc, LO loves it, also go to jo jingles but I am in a bit of a battle with them at the moment, my LO is coming up for 3 and attends a class which is advertised as 3-5 year olds, most children are under 2 or just 2, when I asked why they said that it had to be advertised at a certain age to follow guidelines but in fact it was for younger children as well.  I really want her to mix with kids her own age as she does in the other class as I find they are all at a similar stage and she gets more out of it.  Am still waiting to hear what the solution is going to be.

Am glad to hear it wasn't just me that didn't think much of tumble tots.x

yes me I was disappointed with the trial and didn't return it was basically just free play on the equpment at ours with a short song session at the end, I figured for the price I got a lot better just taking her to soft play!

We do baby swimming as our main class which she loves and I think we get a lot out of having a teacher over an ordinary swimming session - and I couldn't say the same for tumbletots!

our tumble tots is quite good the teachers are lovely but i went to gymbabes and loved that but now its tumble tots i am not sure he is getting much from it and i agree its the same stuff each week we pay £5 though which is a better price.

i was going to quit but i invited my MIL along to ONE of them and now she comes weekly and has even paid for the next 4 weeks she thinkks he really enjoys it but she doesnt see him with other things

i agree though soft play etc is just as good

We didn't enjoy Tumble Tots so we didn't g back. I've tried music classes and dance classes but E only enjoyed the music one. Now we don't do alot although I'd love to do swimming with her.
