Getting married June 2011

Hello please be gentle with me, this is my First post...

Im getting married on 18th June 2011, and this is our 2nd marriage, the first time with a quickie in a reg office and we went home after due to having 2 small kids..marriage failed after 13 years. 

20 years on and i have found the man of my dreams and he propsed last Oct and we have set a date.. we will be having a Reg office, but with all the extras, i will have a wedding dress with a flower girl (poss bridesmaids) but am wandering when to start lookung for dresses and venues etc???

Congrats and welcome to hitched, Im getting married July 2011. I have already organised my venues, photgrapher and have bought my dress - so Its never too early. It really depends on what your planning but lots of venues and suppliers get booked up in advance.

To answer your question: You want to start looking for venues and stuff NOW! lol I have already got bookings coming in for 2011 and usually the venue and the dress gets booked before me. June, July and August are popular months so get cracking! But try and enjoy it all, too. Half the fun is in all the planning. Good luck with everything.

It is never to early to start at least looking at venues, dresses etc.  Some venues get booked up years in advance so go for it and have fun!!

Hi Trish many congratulations on your engagement and welcome to Hitched.  I agree with what's been said above - start looking for a venue straight away as the popular ones get booked up quick during the summer months and by the way it's never to early to plan - it's the 1st March tomorrow and time will fly by trust me.   whereabouts are you thinking of getting married? 

Like Philip, we too already have confirmed bookings summer 2011!

We are so happy and cant wait to start arranging stuff, but we have one prob that we have to deal with first.. the future Step daughter is not happy that we are getting married... all because she feels that she was last to be told that we had booked the wedding...

I thought i should tell both sets of parents first, then the rest of the family, etc... i actually forgot to tell my future step daughter.

I told one of my best friends, and unfortunitly, her daughter goes to school with my future step daughter............................... well you can guess the rest.... RESULT.............. one very unhappy teen.. she is saying she dont wanna come and she hates me as im marrying her father, and her father should be back with her mum etc etc................

oh well im sure we will get round this somehow!!!

OMG your story seems to mirror mine, my ex and i split after 13 years and iam now due to marry the man of my dreams in August! i found my dress in March last year and it arrived (after a few blips) at the end of January its lovely! we booked our venue a year ago too!

I think the problem with your step daughter is just her way of letting off steam, try to let her know you are not a threat and that you are not trying to take the place of her mum maybe even try to involve her in things??? its a really hard situation i know and i really hope it works out for you all x x x

i have asked her to be bridesmaid, even though we were only gonna have a flower girl... she like why would i wanna be a bridesmaid when i am not even coming. my fiance has told me to let her have her tantrum, but its still upsetting to me as all i want is a little bit of happiness and the day to go with out a hitch.

Am off work wed/thurs, mum and me are going dress shopping im so excited....!!!!

Depends on how much you want to pay for your dress and if you want a proper gown?

I got my dress on ASAPBAY (Landybridal on Ebay.) Was £120 and is a proper gown.

Hi and welcome, I'm a 10th June 2011 Bride   Yes, like the others said you need to start getting things together now. We have been slowly plannning since August 2009 and just have flowers, suits, menu etc to sort now.
