I haven't but OH had it done 3 years ago (will be 4 in September) and it was great!  He's really squeamish too and he fainted after it had been done because he started thinking about what had been done...

Basically there's a few different types and they do all sorts of checks on your eyes to see which is best for you.  The one OH had they actually cut a flap on the lens then laser and put the flap back.  They clamp your eyes open which is apparently a bit uncomfortable but you have drops in your eyes like local anaesthetic so you can't feel anything.  You have to wear dark glasses for a couple of days and some really fetching goggles when you go to bed for about a week afterwards! They also give you plenty of drops.

OH had a really strong prescription at the time and is just starting to notice his eyes begin to deteriorate again (although not so much that he needs glasses again yet, even on the lowest prescription.

Have ya thought about Contact Lenses? i dont know if that help... you can buy disposable one, and wear and throw it out..

I wear monthly ones, wearing them everyday.. Its been nearly 14 years since i was about 13-14....

I think it really depends on your prescrition, how well the surgery can correct your vision, I know people who have had high astigmatism, and needed glasses again a few years later to correct it again.

Unless you were considering having eye surgery anyway, rather than having it done just for your wedding day, I would say go for it, if not, I would just get fitted with some soft contact lenses, you will have plentyy of time to practise getting them in and out.

If your a bit squeamish , its not a great procedure, as your awake and having to think about what they are doind, even if it doesn't hurt!

Thanks Ladies for your replies - think I'll go to the consultations and see what they say.  Might not even be suitable.

Have to wear glasses for reading/computer work so not all the time - just fed up not being able to see things without them on.

I had it done 2 years ago and it's probably the best thing I've ever done (except for marrying Mr T of course).

The procedure was slightly uncomfortable, but not painful by any means and it gave/has given me a whole new lease of life...I no longer have to think about ordering contacts or worrying about staying over anywhere.

In fact it feels weird to think that I wore glasses once...really bloody thick ones too!
