  • Photographer help please!

I posted on here some months ago re my wedding that was two years ago, and I was having issues with the photographer (we still didn't have our album). Well, we still don't and I am getting more than frustrated. Can any professionals advise where I go from here? Is there a professional body/organisation that I can go to?? The last few emails from him have been very blunt, and clearly our 'good' relationship has broken down. I have always tried to remain friendly, but it is now getting very protracted to say the least.

    Many thanks in advance!

    Hi

Is the photographer apart of any organisation? if he is you can always go to them but they are likely to do nothing as all they govern is the quality of the images and not the end product.

The best bet is to go legal, threaten them with small claims court and maybe contact the local newspaper to tell them your story, there is nothing really else that can be done. What was the package, do you have any images at all and have you seen the images?

I have the small proof images, it's the album that we seem to be struggling with. I did think about saying that we would go to small claims, but then even if we got our money back I would then never have an album or the images via CD to get one made.

The photographer advertises in Guides for Brides etc, and has LBIPP after his name if that means anything!

    Thanks for your help.

The best place to try for advice first is the british institute of professional photography.

http://www.bipp.com/contact_us.html - try will get in touch with the photographer direct just to see what the situation with, they are the best of the organisations but as i mentioned they might not do much as long as the images are of a set standard.

Lbipp means that he has earned his Licentiateship and achieved a set standard with the BIPP

If they cant help with the photographer direct then ask them how to go about getting the album from the photographer. I would use the paper as a last resort as this may result in either you getting an album or a refund (with no images)

I am a member of the BIPP and know that they do have a legal team that is designed to help photographers but might help you as well.

Hi TrinityB..if you want to email/message me the details, I will find out what I can and make suggestions of action to you. FWIW, Greenleaf makes some good points....

    Hi Trinity!

Right, first things first, stop emailing! They are too easy to ignore and will only wind you up!

Forget professional bodies, they don't have any real power over the photographers.

So... First of all, make it clear in your mind what you want. My understanding is that you want your completed album, produced to a satisfactory standard.

Write a letter, keep it it to the point and don't put any emotions in at all.

    Dear xxxx,

It has now been xxx months/years since our wedding date and we still have not received our finished wedding album.

We are now very keen to get this finalised, and we feel you have had ample time to get produce our album. I am therefore writing to ask that you give us a firm date when our album will be produced and available for us to collect.

Please can we have a timescale in writing as to when we can expect to receive a proof (if you're expecting one) and how long it will take to get the final finished product delivered to us.

I expect your written repsonse within 7 working days.

    Many thanks,
