  • I am disgusted with how I was treated, would you complain?

My daughter has been on to us for weeks to take her swimming so we decided on Friday we would take her today, we went to our local pool where they dont have big slides and wave machine only because I thought it would be alot quieter and B wouldnt get splashed so much. So we checked the times on the internet and we set off, when we got there they had a sign out the front saying they were closed all day due to a Gala, I couldnt believe it, it wasnt on the website saying it was closed which would have been nice. We decided to go to the other pool with the slides and wave machine, I knew it would be busy so before we paid out on parking H went it and said that the next session was half an hour away and people were queing already so we paid for parking and went into que.

We were told we couldnt purchase tickets yet and we had to que for the 2.15 session, the que was very long and it was so hot in there. I began to feel a bit unwell and knew I had to sit down, my hips began to hurt and I started to feel a visual migraine on its way (I feel very faint with these and with the heat it was 10x worse). I went off to ask a member of staff if I could sit at the desk and wait for my H and B to reach the front as I was 7 mths pregnant and feeling very faint with the heat, she told me I could go and sit in the cafe which is through another door and round the corner, I explaind to her I wouldnt see if my H had reached the front, she then said 'well there are no chairs' and just looked at me as if I was causing problems. I walked off after saying I will fall down then shall I?

The time was now 2.30 and the que had stopped moving, H went off to ask what was happening, they told him we had to wait for the 3.00pm session, we couldnt believe it, I ended up sitting on the floor whilst H went and got me a bottle of water, he then couldnt get back in the que as there was a barrier so we had to wait to reach the front for him to get back in. Luckily there was a very nice man who helped me off the floor when I needed to get up.

My parents think I should complain but im not sure, im never planning on going there again after that incident and they will probably offer us tickets for ice skating or another swimming session. What would you do? Would you complain?

Depends what you want from complaining.  If you just want to make them "pay" and the way they would do that is offer a session you don't want, then no - I wouldn't waste my energy.  If you want to raise poor service because it *might* effect how others are treated in future then yes I'd complain.  Many leisure centres are part of groups, so if you check the website you may have the option to complain quite 'high up'.

Tbh - and it may be you just have to explain more, like if the cafe was miles away - I don't really see the problem with her suggesting the cafe.  I know you said you wouldn't see the front of the queue, but my first thought was 'why couldn't your H just come back to you when they had their tickets' - so maybe that's what she thought?  Her service could have been a LOT better - I like to think I would have seen you comfortably seated somewhere and offered you some water too.  But I don't see that suggesting the cafe was that bad?
