    Anyone getting married abroad?

    As the title really.

If so how are you transporting your dress? My sister in law is not keen to put it in the suitcase but fears it may be the only option.

Also, if you are having a reception abroad what are you doing for favours, decor, flowers etc?

Infact any ideas would be great as we are slightly stumped an obviously are having to think about how to get everything over there!

    I am!!!

My dress will have to go in a suitcase as it's too big for hand luggage.  Thomas cook have given us an extra 20kg suitcase for wedding stuff when we called them up to ask.  We have to label it lots to make it standout!  We have booked our wedding through a wedding planner and she is sorting out all the details.  We have to tell her what we want, what colours etc.  She will arrange a meeting with cake maker and florist for when we arrive in the country before the wedding so we can pick what we want.

Favours - I've got some fans which will go on the chairs for the ceremony! Otherwise not bothering! I'm sure people will understand!  They've got a free bar so i doubt they'll realise that there are no sugared almonds!

    Mrs Spink to be!:

    Yay another one!

Where abroad are you getting married?

I know they have an extra 20Kg but she is worried about her dress creasing - what are you planning to do?

I know they have a planner but to be honest she is useless and only sorting the cake and flowers out for them. They are even having to arrange their own reception.

When did you get your fans from? I do love the idea of fans but they seem expensive.

Free bar sounds good but this is not happened so I think my sister in law wants to get something (not sugared almonds) that people can keep to say thank you for travelling all that way and for forking out for the travel etc.

Sorry so many questions but have never even been to a wedding abroad let alone tried to help organise one!

I got the fans of ebay.  I need to hunt for some more as we have more people coming now! I'm getting married on the Blue lagoon in Olu deniz, Turkey.  Where is your sister getting married?  My planner does everything! We're having a posh BBQ on the beach for my reception.

    Re: Anyone getting married abroad?

It is my brother getting married and they are getting married in Cyprus.

You are lucky with your planner - did you pay extra? The planner they have came with the wedding package I believe.

At the moment they are having a sit down wedding breakfast following the ceremony in an outside area and then in the evening we are headed down the beach for a BBQ which will be nice. Although personally sitting outside at 1pm I think is a little mad as it will be so hot in August - so the fans may be a great idea.

I will head off to ebay for a look - thanks.

I missed the sister in law bit!  We booked a planner out there, she's arranging everything.  We're not getting married until 5pm. So it will be a bit cooler.

This is our planners website, it will show you what we get in the packages.
