I am getting married at the Riu Tequila!!!   I am bout 2 weeks before you!!! So excited!  Just hope the weather will be ok, we fly out on the 23 Jan 2011.  Are you getting married in the gardens or the beach?  we nrealy booked the  Moon Palace but decided on this place as it was cheaper and nearer the town.  I have got my dress now, are you taking any thing over with you for the reception etc??  Will be good to get some ideas off you if you don't mind.

    Hi,

I got married at the Riu Yucatan almost 4 years ago. We were supposed to get married in the gardens on the Yucatan, but the morning of our wedding it was tipping down with rain, so we arranged to get married in the chapel of the Riu Palace.  By the time I got married, the sun was shining, so we had beautiful pictures of the ceremony in the chapel and then lovely pictures outside.

It really was a great day. Only thing I found was the beauty salon there was very slow.  On the day of my wedding I was booked in for reflexology (30 mins), and I was having my nails, hair and makeup done.  I got there at 9am and didn't get out until almost 2.45pm, and I was getting married at 3pm. I know another bride there found the service very slow - the salon is for guests staying at the Tequila and the Yucatan.  Just something to bear in mind - it was quite a while ago now, so they may be quicker.

We paid to have a mariachi (spelling) band, play as I was walking down the aisle, and for after the ceremony while pictures were being taken, they were really great. We also paid for a bigger wedding cake, more photos and to have the ceremony and speeches during the meal recorded.

It really was the best day ever, and even now everyone says what a great time they had - there were 30 of us all together.

You will have a fantastic day.

I just got back from Mexico (not wedding or honeymoon related just a holiday!) was absolutely AMAZING and would recommend for any holiday! The beaches there are stunning and the whole place is amazing. If you are holidaying after i would recommend Tulum for its wow ruins on the coast and waterpark Xel-ha. There is so much to see and do take advantage of the sights!

Also we saw lots of weddings on the beach, we stayed at the Iberostar Quetzal, and a word of advice make sure the hotel clears the surrounding beach area well enough - do specify before, as some weddings they didnt and people were sitting quite close sunbathing which i think takes the edge of it so just be firm on this so you get some privacy and there are some gawpers!!

Sure u will all have an amazing time Mexico is a phenomenal place! xx

Getting married on 3rd September 2011 in a beautiful castle!

    Hi

We are getting married at the Gran Caribe Real Resort in Cancun in November 2011, we have never been to Mexico before but it looks like a lovely place so keeping my fingers crossed for a perfect day and lovely weather.

We are thinking of having personalised shot glasses with minature tequilas for favours, i am thinking of going with either a seashell theme or starfish theme so might try and find some seashell shape chocolates, we have a long while to decide on things though so nothing definate.

Hiya! Im getting married at the Riu Cancun in April 2011. Stayed at this hotel this year and last year and got to watch 4 weddings (one at the riu palace) Im also having a starfish theme so for my favours ive bought personalised lottery ticket holders that double up as name places for the reception. I got these from ebay! They can print any design and any colour ribbon to match your scheme. They wont weigh too much and it cost £2 per favour! BARGIN!!

Congratulations - your hotel looks amazing!

We too also looked at Cyprus and couldn't believe how expensive it was.

So we too booked our wedding in Mexico this weekend for March 2012 - not been before but looks beautiful and heard so many nice things. We are staying at the Excellence Riviera Cancun http://www.excellence-resorts.com/all-inclusive-resorts/riviera-cancun-mexico/cancun-overview.htm

    You must be soooo excited!
