Just wondering when you changed your babies ,i mean toddlers (they grow up so fast) from sleeping bags to duvets and pillows in their cot. My Little Boy has his sleeping bag which in the next few monhs he will grow out of. I am reluctant to buy another and wonder whether i can start a pillow and duvet for him?? He is 15 months?? Is it too early??

When did you change from sleeping bag to Duvet and Pillows??

    Thanks in advance..

    xx

With Jack I didn't change until he was almost 2.  He went from having grobags to a cot coverlet thing that was fleecy on one side and fabric on the other and a very low tog rating.  He didn't sleep well  with it in the cot, but when we moved him into a proper single bed at 2 yrs 2months, he settled under a 4.5tog duvet and a cot size pillow really well from Day 1.

Sophie is coming up fro 14 months and I have no plans to change her yet.  She has become quite wriggly in her sleep and she kicks off sheets and blankets, gets cold and wakes up, so she is going into 18-36m sleeping bags  when she grows out of her 12-18m ones!  Looking back, I wish I hadn't bothered changing Jack when he was in the cot.  I found it a faff in the cot, but much easier on the bed and so did he.

Can't help you with the timing as C has only just changed and he is nearly two and a half (I can't remember what he was like as a 15-month-old). I left it this long to stop him climbing out of the cot, but he was starting to get seriously annoyed with the sleeping bag, so I certainly couldn't have left it until 36 months.

BUT if you are thinking of changing soon, have a look on Amazon for a company called 'Matching Bedroom Sets' - they do the duvet, pillow and the covers for about £24-ish (made by My Big Bed). I was looking at places like John Lewis, and just the covers by themselves would have been that much! I bought two sets, a George Pig one and a Thomas one and they are not bad for the price, they wash well and he loves them.

They can have a duvet and pillow from one year.

We changed to a duvet once Chase went into a toddler bed.

I think we changed J to a duvet and small pillow at about 18 months (might have been a bit earlier) as I also didn't want to buy the next size up in grobags. He has an Ikea small toddler duvet and pillow which he had in his cot and now has in a toddler bed.

D got a pillow at 13m, although he was used to being raised anyway as he had reflux so we tilted his bed. We moved him into a duvet at 20m as yet another attempt to find a sleeping situation he liked enough to stay asleep for more than 2 hours at a time... the first night, he slept through!

    Never done it since.

I wanted to go out and change the world but I couldn't find a babysitter.

I got holly a cotbed pillow and duvet at 12 months and shes always loved it. I gave Abi hollys duvet and pillow at 12 months and got Holly a single duvet and pillow although shes still in a cot bed i just tuck it under more).

Abi seems to always kick off her duvet, but shes warm enough so i just leave her to it

Thanks everyone for your reply. These are very helpful to me... I cant remember what we did for my first, who took to most things like a duck to water, my ds however is totally different and i think would take a lot longer to adjust to the change, but my main worry is he is a real wriggler and i'm terrifed of him wriggling under the duvet or pillow!!

Think i might just stick with the grow bags for another 6 months, then its summer and we can use blankets etc to start off.

Thanks once again... its sleeping bag for a few months at least.

    :)

I think i will leave it a few months at least by then the weather will be on the change and we can start off with using a few blankets and see how we get on.

It seems that there is no general rule, even though they say they can be used from 1 yr.

I'll probably end up buying another growbag... HeyHo!!

Thank you so much for your help:)

coming to this a bit late but we have a real wriggler too, she's 18 months and we have just put her in a duvet and pillow because we were concerned she was cold over the recent week or two. We were having to put her in about seven layers plus the growbag and she looked like a michelin man! We bought the zip-on duvet by the grobag company and we just zip up one side so she can't throw it all off completely. I was worried about her getting under the duvet upside down but actually she tends to throw it off and end up on top of it the wrong way round! However she is sleeping very soundly so we are very pleased.
