I bit the bullet and managed to feed Seb in a cafe yesterday afternoon with H when we went out for the day. We sat at the back of the cafe and the only person that actually came past and seen us was the cafe owner when she brought our drinks over, but I feel much better knowing I've got the first feed in public over and done with. The cafe owner was lovely and smiled at me and told me how gorgeous Seb was and was asking how old he was. I have a feeling we'll be using that cafe again in the future!

Well done you! I only managed it last Saturday at a wedding when J was 5 and a half weeks. I found what I thought was a quiet corner and hid behind a Christmas tree, only for the phtographer to turn up 5 minutes later with dozens of guests ready for photos...

    Yes to you!

How wonderful for you. I'm glad your first experience was such a good one. It is nervy getting used to feeding in public. I was lucky that our NCT group used to meet up from fairly early on and so there was about 3 of us all in the same boat which made it a lot less daunting.

It's nice to have found somewhere you know is a relaxing place to feed if you are out and about Big Smile

Once the first one's over and done with it gets so much easier.  Before long you won't even give it a second thought.

well done! took me three weeks to try it!! If you are worried about it though i highly recommend a baby babette - I always use mine and it means I can feed her literally anywhere and don't feel l have to try and find somewhere secluded and quiet! Now Sarah is getting nosy and trying to look all over the place when she feeds its a good way of blinkering her too! I did try to just use a muslin but it was always falling off etc.

Well done, I've still not braved it at 18 weeks! Apart from in the car in the dark but I don't think that counts.

A good halfway house is a feeding room - shops like John Lewis, M&S and Boots tend to have them as well as big shopping centres. It's a great way to feed while out and about without having to brave a cafe or somewhere completely public. My first few weeks of public bf's were always in feeding rooms, and when I felt I'd got up enough confidence I started to brave cafes etc

Can I just add that the Close sling is ace for BF on the go - I BF walking about, chatting, you name it - it's got loads of fabric so you just pop the baby to one side, sneak in a nipple and pull up a bit of jersey! No one bothers you either cos they assume the baby is asleep! Genius!

    Well done!

I have fed while sitting across a restaurant table from my BIL and even at close range he thought LO was asleep! (I love the vest down/top up approach)
