At what stage did your newborn become more alert?

My LO is still very much in the sleep/eat/cry stage - eyes are open very littke throughout the day. How old was you LO when they started to become more alert, have their eyes open for longer etc?

O has been a bit more awake and alert the last 2 days! He is 12 days tomorrow.

she always was very alert at night!!  but as I remember the generally sleepy newborn phase lasted till just before H went back to work, so about three weeks ish!

T slept almost constantly until 3 weeks and then one morning, which coincidentally or not was around his due-date, he was born at 37 weeks) he woke up and that was it! He went to a few short naps a day and still doesn't need much sleep now at 21 months (8 hours at night and 30 mins in the day)

I think it was around 4 weeks ish.  He's becoming increasingly alert and now at 9 weeks is awake quite a bit, he smiles loads and is very into watching his surroundings.  He responds to us, gurgles away and is much more aware of what's going on around him.

B was very alert from day one which was very disconcerting. I hadn't expected him to be like he was until about four weeks which was what my friends LOs had been like.

Aaron had the initial just born sleep and that was it he was wide and alert and has never stopped since!

I think it was around 6 weeks before.  I was getting a bit worried because all she did was eat then sleep!
