  • O/T Hair straightener recs please!

    Hi,

I've posted this on OT but no-one seems to use it anymore.... so will try over here!!

I'm planning on updating my hair straighteners and could do with some advice please!

I have long thick hair with a bit of a kink to it, but as I don't particularly want dead straight hair have never really fancied GHDs (ironic I know, wanting straighteners, but not poker straight hair!) I currently have some old Mark Hill ones which straighten whilst keeping body... but they're on their last legs!!

What do you use/recommend? I'm also looking for some curling tongs - so straighteners which can be used for curls would be even better!!

    Thanks x

nothing straightens my hair! even after having it done professionally with GHD's it starts to curk after about an hour lol

    hi,

i've got GHDs and it depends how you use them. if you hold them at a slight angle you can get a natural straightness to your hair. You can also use them as curling tongs aswell. i bought a new pair last year and you get an an instructional dvd with them now which shows you how to do it.

    hope that helps x

I'd go with GHD's too, I wouldn't be without mine!  I've got really frizzy but thick hair and it still has plenty of body, and looks 'naturally' straight iykwim.

I'm like curly panda - you couldn't straighten my hair if you spent 3 hours trying!!!!  GHDs are always at the top of all the ratings though.  Sorry can't help more.

    These are mine http://www.ukhairdressers.com/store/details.asp?ID=CeramagicQuickWidePlate

They're by a company called Quick. I have them because my parents' next door neighbour is my hairdresser and they wanted to get some for me and she sourced these as she uses them in her salons. I've had them since 2003, they're very very durable which I think is why she uses them. They're a wider plate, and make quite wide waves when using them to curl.

remmington wet to shine are mine, they have a temperature guages on them so u can set the heat so if you dont want it to straight you dont have to turn them up that high. they are alot cheaper than ghds as well x

I cant rec GHDS enough, I agree in that you dont have to have it poker straight you can curve it and put kinks into your hair just depends how you use it...

I know thats not an answer to your orignal question but thought it may be of some help
