  • What a Christmas present!

Hello from a semi newbie (used to be on planning and OT many years ago) who has just found out she is pregnant!

My H and I have tried for years to have a baby but recently found out that the only way we could concieve would be IVF which we've been saving like mad for.  However I just had a gut feeling, did a test and it's positive.  I just can't believe it!  So it looks like i'll be hanging around here a lot more looking for advice.  Because it was a shock I just feel totally unprepared (and it doesn't help that all the relatives are over for Christmas because we'll have to pretend everything is normal).

The main problem I have is that I have just resigned from my job to take up one much closer to home.  If I had only known a month ago I would have had a greatmaternity package - at the moment I reckon my new job will want to get rid of me as soon as they know (I have a 6 month probabtionary period so it'll easy for them).  I think i'm going to have to get very good at budgeting very quickly.

Anyway, that's enough of my waffle.  Happy Christmas to everyone on here and i'm sure you'll be seeing a lot of me in the future!

Wow, congratulations! What a lovely christmas present indeed.  I got pregnant about a day before starting a new job so sympathise with the maternity package thing! I would think it would be very hard for them to get rid of you unless they had a very good (non-pregnancy related) reason to do so.

Welcome to BT! I guess it may be hard to keep quiet tomorrow!
