When George was waking frequently through the night I'd often change his nappy once or even twice.  However generally at the moment (I appreciate it's liable to change!) he goes off at about 10/11pm, wakes at about 3am ish for a 10 min feed (he doesn't really wake properly for this and goes straight back down afterwards) then sleeps again until 6/7am.  I don't really want to disturb him at the 3am feed to change his nappy, but I feel so bad if I do and it's wet/dirty when I change it at 6/7am.  What do you do?

We use a grobag so it's quite a mission to get him undressed and means taking him out of his snuggly sleeping bag and making him cold etc.  I don't know whether to risk properly waking him up and struggling to get him back off again, or whether to leave it.

Poo- yes, wee- no. Changing bums in the night is a faff and you need your sleep too.

    Hi Dinx

Noah wakes roughly every 3 hours in the night to feed and we have tended to change him each time before I feed him. We have just started peeking into his nappy now to see if it is dirty. if it is he gets changed, but if not we leave him. My HV said that a wet nappy can be left longer, but does need changing if it's dirty.

H has a teeny pocket torch he uses to peer inside the nappy Laugh

N also sleeps in Grobags so I know what you mean about the faff of getting him undressed. I find that N tends to feed back to sleep though, hence changing before feeding rather than after.

when they were pooing in the night I  changed them, wees I didn't b/c otherwise they may wake up too much.  mine were both in cloth and were fine sleeping through the night in a wet nappy.

I only change Gabrielle if I know she's pooed (just by hearing, I don't otherwise check to see if she has), generally she doesn't overnight so I hardly ever end up changing her.

Our hv recommended avoiding changing in the night if possible and if you do have to change them then doing it in the dark.

If she wakes and I know she has a dirty nappy then I'll change it, other than that we don't.

Apologies for lack of capital letters - Zoe has stolen my shift key Huh?

I change Toby when he has a dirty nappy, not if it's a wet one (unless it's really wet!). Changing his nappy always wakes him right up, so I avoid doing it at night if possible as it takes ages to get him back off to sleep.
