  • Anyone else going to be watching ITV at 9.00pm

    "Out of My Depth" .

Amanda Holden trains with student midwives.

  • Re: Anyone else going to be watching ITV at 9.00pm

I was quite interested to watch but I know the 2 midwives at work were talking about it and they wouldn't, saying that she shouldn't be allowed to deliver, plus there's more to midwifery than just delivery what about all the anti natal and post natal care that is given.

Will probably give it a chance but not totally keen on Amanda Holden

Another not keen on AH but intrigued to see how it's all portrayed/done.

Well said those Midwives and for standing their ground!

My dream job is to be a midwife so im watching. I have a very close friend who is a midwife and she will be deliverying my baby, I think the job they do is utterly amazing. I dont think I would let her help deliver my baby.

I did however just get slightly freaked out seeing that woman in so much pain, and the thought that thats going to be me in less than 16 weeks time is so scary.

How lovely to have a friend deliver your baby, such a wonderful, wonderful job, would love to think I could train to be one, but don't think I ever could do it!

Will soon come round for you once Christmas is over!

So what did everyone make of it? I still don't like AH but have to admire her for keeping calm when the baby wasn't breathing.

What a hugebaby too! H kept saying 'you were never that noisey' Ummm, might have something to do with S being half the size of a normal baby!

There is no chance that Amanda Holden arrived at the hospital like that after stepping off the plane. When she was in the taxi she had bright red nail varnish on (I noticed cos I thought I hope she is going to remove that) then at the end when she was crying outside the delivery room, she put her hands to her mouth and she had pale pink nail varnish on. So unless hse had time to change her nail polish while she was changing into her scrubs, then those two pieces of footage must have taken place on different days!

I liked the program over all, but was a bit wife swap in its continuity and things being staged for teh sake of the program. Im 100% sure that midwives are put under far more pressure than that.

Did hold my breath when the baby came out though!

I enjoyed it although it was incredibly staged at times wasnt it! Well observed re the nail varnish Jingle... That does annoy me when they change things, just enforces further my lack of  trust in the media!

I absolutely balled my eyes out when  that baby wasnt breathing - my jaw was on the floor!  The delivery was amazingly like mine with L and it freaked me out a little.  I still dont fully know what happened with him as it was only a few days later when I looked at photos that he was there with an oxygen mask over him (he too was ventouse).  I think I will be asking to see my delivery notes when I next see the midwife!

I just watched this back on Sky+ and was bawling my eyes out all through her labour.  It brings it all back!

Another one who couldn't stop crying - on reflection I was wondering how that mother would feel watching that back too seeing their baby not breathing - as obvioulsy she was blocked out in the delivery room. Not a fan of AH but think the programme on a whole highlighted how hard midwives work and was well done.

Couldn't bear AH using humour at the beginning!

Just watched it on itv iplayer and omg I didnt stop crying through it all, especially the delivery at the end. I feel so mixed up about seeing it. I think it helped vent a good cry that has been waiting to come out though.
