Opinions please ladies...

My mum has seen a dress she really likes for the wedding. The sample was in the 'occassion wear' section in the shop when she tried it and she loved it on, but then she found out it is actually a bridesmaid dress and is now worried it's too young for her or won't look right!

She would be having straps added to the dress (quite thick ones, not shoestring) and is getting a bolero jacket  to match with 3/4 length sleeves. I don't think it looks overly like a bridesmaid dress and my bridesmaids are in full length gowns that actually have little trains.

So opinions, ok for MOTB or to bridemaidy?

(Here is the dress, she won't be having blue and black, will be a medium taupe colour with a cream band)

WSS, I think it would look stunning on your Mum. Do they sell a jacket too, or will she be buying one to match?

like the others have said - once shes got a jacket and hat on she'll look fab.  Not too BM-like at all.

Its a gorgeous dress and, as you said, she tried it on and loved it and was only then put off when she found out it was a BM dress.  I think a lot of MOTBs wear what is intended to be a BM dress but I don't think that matters - as long as she likes it and is comfortable in it I say go for it.  Obviously she knows what your BMs are wearing so there is no way shes going to clash or look the same as them anyway.

It sounds lovely - I think yo Mum should wear what she is feels comfortable and good in:) Having a little Jacket will def make it even better. x

I think it looks lovely. Very similar to what my Mum is wearing (with the straps and the jacket)! When Mum described her outfit to me I was really worried it would look like she was trying to be too young but it was lovely!

I'm actually not keen on many of the MOTB outfits so I think your Mum will look fab in the dress!

Ooh La La, there is a jacket to match by the same company (so same colour and material), it's a bolero with long sleeves, but she's going to get them shortened to 3/4 length.

Jen, I agree with you about some of the actual MOB outfits, we've not really seen anything, my mum felt they were all a bit older styled and in all honesty, more suited to my gran!

Oooo thats nice, and like the others said it wont look BM-ey when she has a hat and bolero, especially if its a different style to your BM's anyway.

God knows what my moms going to wear, I just hope she doesn't turn up in the regular black mini shirt, black top and black sandles ensemble!
