  • How easy or otherwise to push M&P Pramette one handed?

We have a pliko pramette which i used for twenty months with my LO who is now almost two and a half. Baby no.2 is due in May and i am wondering how easy it would be to steer the pramette one handed whilst holding my toddlers hand?  I don't drive so have to walk a lot and live in a very hilly area! I seem to remember struggling to push the pramette one handed when i was trying to answer my mobile phone but those events weren't very often and i don't want to go wasting money on a new pram if i could manage. But with sale time upon us it might be a good time to grab a bargain if we did need to buy a new one. I'm thinking something with one handle bar across rather than two handles so if the pramette may be a no go then recs for a new pram would be good.

Off to work soon but will check back on this tonight.

I can't push my pramette one-handed at all! I managed with K & E without getting a new one as we used a double for about a year and now have a buggy board so I limit the need for one-handed pushing. If I were to get a new pram for any reason, it would definitely be to get one that I could push with one hand.

I'm not sure if that is what you wanted to hear or not Wink

Hmmm, from what I can remember it was pretty tricky to push my pramette one handed, especially as it got older and a bit more rickety, also as child got heavier. I think you could probably find something more "one handed friendly" although the one handled option might work, mine had 2 handles.

I struggled with my Pliko one handed so sold it and bought http://www.babyjogger.com/city_mini_lp.aspx which is fab and so so easy to push with one hand.  It also folds really easily.  You can get a carrycot to attach to it for a newborn and carseat adaptors too Big Smile

As others have said, I could not push the pliko one handed at all.

I sold it and we've gone for a Bee this time, which pushes one handed like a dream.

I had a different pram but I found it next to impossible with 2 handles.

we ended up with a cheap double (one in front of the other) because our 19 month age gap made it more sensible and gave me more freedom to walk further but I often end up having to do that one handed with Charlotte walking and it is MUCH easier because it has a one bar handle. Also it might be safer to have the fall back of a littlelife backpack just in case. the thing I found so scary at first was to remember I couldn't just let go of the pram because it had a baby in it whereas before when I had just been walking around with Charlotte and her empty pushchair the pushchair itself wasn't important. not sure if that makes sense

I can't push mine one handed at all.

I have a 22m age gap and use a Lascal buggy board. Now B is three I also sometimes use a hand strap attached at one end to the back of the pushchair- he hangs on to the other end and it keeps him a sensible distance from the pushchair (ie not too far away but also not under the wheels like when he tries to hold the pushchair by hand).

eta I bought a P&T double and didn't get on with it.

    Hi ya

That's exactly the reason I decided not to have a two handle pram for this one reason Although my son is nearly 5 he still likes to hold my hand when walking and I like it too! But when I practised with the  M&P  pram and holding his hand, I couldn't do it, so have gone for a pram with the bar. A LOT easier. Have you looked into getting a Buggie Board though, so he can jump on instead?

I have that pram & remember it being very difficult to push with one hand because it's so heavy.

I'll be using it when baby #2 comes along next year. I think we're going to try a buggy board with it.

Clare De Lune - I really want a P&T double, but they are just tooo much! Why didn't you get on with it out of interest?

Forgot to add that we've just bought the Maxi Cosi Bebeconfort Street from Kiddicare.com and it's the 2008 model which is not that different according to Kiddicare to the newer 2009  (I phoned to check) other than the colour of the chasis. I got the pushchair, car seat, raincover and footmuff for £169!! Reduced from £260. So if you want something lightweight, easy to put up and down with one hand and easyily changable to pram/car seat etc, the reviews are really good. Perfect if you really don't want to pay out hundreds of ££££ http://www.kiddicare.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/productdisplayA_2199+2410_10751_-1_23176_59957_10001_23176

Thanks for all the replies. I had feared that the answers would be it's difficult to push one handed, i absolutely loved the Pramette when my LO was small, he always looked so comfy in it but as he got older it got heavy and as i said difficult to push one handed on the occasions that i had to answer my mobile or something. Thanks for the recs as well,

will have to have a look at them and do some research. Would also have to convince H that buying a new pram wouldn't be a waste of money!
