I'm self employed too and get most of my work from gumtree. It's hard though at the moment like you say, because of having specific requirements. Hope things pick up for you soon.

That makes it trickier from a rec agency  point of view but still worth giving some agencies a call as it's pretty straightforward to set up as a Ltd Co and if it meant money coming in then I'm sure ti would be worth it.  Maybe some local comppanies will have call centre work or similar over Xmas period. 

I definitely think that thebabysitting idea is a good one, my MIL works for a nursery and occasionally baby sits for a couple of the parents (with her employer's knowledge) and gets £8 per hour.  Might be worth spreading the word.

I totally sympathise with you.  We are going through some money problems at the moment and we have managed to switch our mortgage to interest only for a while.  This is saving us alot of money and has really helped.  I would phone your mortgage provider and see what they say.  You might be able to take a payment holiday. I also second the money saving expert website and just go through all of your expenditure to see what you might be able to cut out.  I

thanks for the suggestions, we have alreeady switched some of our bills to save money but will look in the jobboard you mentioned, H works with PIL so they cant help we are all in the same situation really, we either all pull through or all sink together

Before you do this (if you haven't already) find out if your mortgage co offers a payment holiday for having a baby (mine does) - they may be more amenable if it's for this reason rather than ability to pay.

Just FYI, we're having problems too and I called the mortgage company first. The reduced ur payments by half for 2 months which really helped.

My H has had to sign on at the jobcentre and they told him that some mortgage companies will tell you it's ok not to pay then put you as defaulting the payment so you have to stay with them.
