Childcare vouchers on mat leave - update and question

Thanks to Tweek, Westy and a few others my work have finally confirmed they're going to backdate my childcare vouchers... they'd stopped paying them when I went onto SMP only, and I found out after reading a thread on here that they should have continued to pay them without deducting me.  So, that's good!  I'd had to pay nursery on a credit card so will now be getting that refunded and am going to make a claim for the interest and cash advance charges too (had to take cash off the card as nursery don't accept card payments) as it was work's error in that they cancelled the vouchers and didn't tell me.  I didn't find out until I was 3 months behind as nursery didn't tell me either, so I had to make a payment ASAP!

Question though - I know they can't deduct from SMP but I've been doing some KIT days recently - I'm asuming they can deduct from the pay from those, but if anyone knows differently, or knows for sure, please shout!

Yes, they can deduct from KIT days. I've done 3 KIT days and haven't claimed for them as they fall into 2 separate months and wouldn't be worthwhile.

Yes they can deduct from KIT days.  I did a couple at the end of my ML though and wasn't paid them until the month I returned (we are paid on the 22nd and the payroll had gone through before I did the days IYSWIM), so didn't lose the pay.

They definitely can deduct from KIT days.  I did my KIT days to help out a colleague with something I usually organise (school) but a lot of it was done at home.  I had to submit the days I reckoned I worked so i just made sure they were dates during the period I was still on my enhanced package so they couldn't refuse to pay my vouchers in total.

I would be very careful, it may well not be worth your while financially doing the KIT days
