How much do/did your baby weigh at 6months?

Hello everyone! Just a little pondering.... Hannah's never been the biggest of babies. She was born at 6 lbs 11, but has put weight on very slowly. I got her weighed yesterday (26weeks) and she's now 13 lbs 10 (which meant she put on 2 lbs in 6weeks! Great for her and am so proud)  It also means she's finally out of the bottom centile!!

She seems very healthy but I can't help but think it's still really light! So just wondered what your little one's weigh in at at 6months?

At 6 months, J was 22lbs so a bit bigger than Hannah! As long as she is happy and healthy, I wouldn't worry - she is probably just destined to be petite!

The girlchild is a tiddler - she was 5lb 14 when she was born and has followed the 9th centile ever since. I didn't get her weighed when she was 6 months but she was somewhere between 14 and 14lb 8oz. Although she's lighter than most babies her age (probably around 91% of them!) she's still a healthy weight - after all, you have to have babies on the 2nd centile to counterbalance those at the 98th centile. The charts show nothing more than the average weights of healthy babies... and if she's on the chart then I wouldn't worry about it.

If she's developing normally and is happy and alert I don't think you've got anything to worry about. It just means you're getting better use out of the small sized clothes that some babies grow out of really quickly!

Zoe was 17lb 8oz at 27 weeks, but it really isn't important what size other babies are.  Some are on the 98th percentile and some are on the 2nd percentile.  Someone has to be at the outer edges.

Adults come in all different shapes and sizes and we seem perfectly able to accept that, and yet with our babies we all want them to be right in the middle and all the same.  I bet Hannah's just gorgeous.

I weighed L yesterday at 6 months and he weighed 18lb 4, he was 7lb 14 at birth and still only has about 3 ozs every 4 hours.

C at 6 months weighed 17lb 10 and was 8lb 15 at birth and was a miles better feeder than L so I think that they are all so different and as long as they're well and look healthy don't get too hung up on charts and centiles or else it will drive you mad.

With risk of sounding very silly here, the growth chart has never been explained to me, so I've never understood the centiles! I just figured yesterday when she went upto the next centile she was 'healthier'.

I can't believe you just explained the centiles there to me (without being asked), yet I've been asking my HV to do that for the past 6months!!

Your example Shellc just proves they are all made so differently!!

S was 4lb 3oz at birth, dropped down the centiles quickly (he was obviously on prem chart) and is now on 75th centile for a term baby at about 18lb8oz at 6 months but we're both big so he was bound to catch up.

Like the others said, I would only ever worry if she drops more than one centile

aaron was 5lb6 at birth, so 0.4th centile, hes now about 17lb ish (havent had him weighed for 2 weeks and he was 16lb12  then. at 24 weeks so not quite 6 months, we're following just under the 50th centile.

as long as she's gaining i wouldn't worry too much, she'll catch up one day! xx

Aye me and OH were both skinny as kids, though I was prem and only 2lb 11 at birth...sure have made up for it

My 3 completely prove the theory that they are all different. At 6months Kiernan was around 23-25lb I think and about 91st centile, had dropped a little from the 98th. Molly was much less, and was on the 9th centile. Maisie is somewhere in between them, I would guess around 16lbish but she hasn't been weighed for about 6 weeks and she is just below the 75th centile.

Just to add the other end of the scale.  Harriett was 11lb 13oz at 6 months. James was 8lb 4oz at 6 months (and yes I did mean 8 not 18!!)

Growth charts are evil.

I had the girls 6 month check up yesterday and they weighed 17lbs 15oz and 18lbs 1/2oz

N was 13lb 3.5oz, she started out 5lb 2oz.
