Abigail has been struggling to poo for the last couple of days. I can see her straining to go but when I change her nappy there's only a tiny bit of hard poo in it. She is BF and we've started weaning but she's only had fruit and veg so far. I've tried a warm bath, massaging her tummy, 'bicycling' her legs, anything else I can try? Is it worth trying a little diluted fresh orange? She's 23 weeks.

I don't know, sorry.  But just wanted to send <easy poo vibes> to Abigail.  Hope she feels better soon.  Kiss for you in the meantime.

    Hi

We had this problem when my lo was 5 months, we had to get something from the doc in the end as she was in a terrible way, nappies were hideous after she took the medicine. x

Thomas used to struggle to poo for months..  You've tried pretty much everything we were told to do..  - the only other things were told is plenty of fluid as the extra fibre needs extra moisture to make it soft.  So to speak.  Oh and diluted prune juice 1 part to 4 parts cool boiled water.  HTH!!  x

Thanks Sarah, she's fast asleep just now so obviously not bothering her too much just now!

P&P - I'm really not looking forward to the nappy when she does eventually go, nappies when you start weaning aren't good at the best of times! May have to phone the docs on Monday if nothing by then

We have ongoing poo problems and I used to sneak extra water into his food, so lots of soupy puree at early stages. Didn't do us much good though and we use lactulose daily now - I'd go to the doctor with it early rather than later if the poos are hard.

A few days I think. She won't take water!

Fifi - do you think I could try fresh orange diluted the same as the prune juice? I'm not sure she'd take it anyway as she rarely even takes EBM out a bottle or cup

I've been giving her porridge or baby cereal for breakfast but have made it a bit thicker the past couple of days, wonder if that could be where i've gone wrong?

I've only tried water out a cup and she won't take it. I'll try giving her some out a bottle when she wakes up.

Thanks so much for all the replies everyone!
