  • Coil - wwyd?

I'm hoping to get an appointment thisafternoon to have my non-hormonal coil taken out as the pain/bleeding is making me miserable. Should I ask to have a hormonal one put in straight away [shudder] Or wait a while, but potentially risk getting upduft?!!!!!

Obviously the clinic may have it's own view on things though.

  • Re: Coil - wwyd?

suppose it depends on a few factors such as

are you wanting more babies in the next few years

are you happy to use another form of contraception

is being upduf a bad thing- i take it it is as otherwise you wouldnt have a coil

what are your reasons to not have a hormonal coil?

I'd go for full coverage but I'm not as broody as you Wink

oh are you broody? i see then i say dont bother DevilLaugh

  • Re: Coil - wwyd?

another baby would not be a good thing right now, although I am broody = v dangerous!!!!

I'm not good with hormones, so we'd be reliant on condoms = v dangerous!!!

My only reasons not to have another coil are I hate the fitting process and I'm worried it may not even solve the problems.

Hmmm, think I've asnwered my own question Laugh, guess I'd better 'woman up' and get another one.

we are reliant on condoms and i fear it is very dangerous, so maybe the coil is the way to go or my method of abstinenceWink although maybe not good for your marriage

Pah, they wouldn't take it out today as had unprotected sex in the last week, but will do it next week if we use condoms (which doesn't make any sense, surely if I'm preggers from a shag last week, I still will be next week), but I can't make clinic next week so that's 2 weeks time. I then have to have 3 months without a coil to make sure that is what's causing things. They've suggested I go on the pill, but I really don't want to [stamps foot], but equally don't want to risk 'F, the sequal'. Maybe we'll be a bit more thorough having learnt our lesson? I'm so broody though, N is a bit too, it's v dangerous!

definitely both together. takes 2 secs to remove old one, you may as well swap to the mirena straight away.

if you were going to conceive last week, taking coil out would allow you to implant -> pregnant. taking it out next week would mean no potential fetus at all iyswim

  • Re: Coil - wwyd?

The reason they wont take it out is because the sperm could still be lurking and then once the coil comes out, then bingo, you could fall pregnant. Its unlikely you are pregnant atm if you have a coil in.

I would go on the pill, its only for 3 months!

I sympathize- I had my coil fitted back at the beginning of august and have been bleeding non stop since then. Not fun.

Ahh yes, that makes sense. Should have been able to work that one out, although they said something about ensuring I wasn't pregnant, prob misheard.
