    Hi all,

I am 36+5 and got up this morning with swollen feet and hands, the feet have went down a bit after keeping them elevated.  I have a slight headache, but nothing else.  Do I need to phone the Hospital do you think?   Never been bothered with this before all the way throughout the pregnancy.  I have had a lot of disturbed sleep throughout the weekend because MrK was away, was wondering if that could have caused it.

    Thanks in advance x

I've been feeling the same and shouldn't gloat at only 4 days left. I've tried all of the following and don't know how it would be if I hadn't done them...massage to arms and legs, dandelion te, pepermint and nettle tea, plenty of water, celery.

Mine are bad now all night and from the moment I wake up...it used to just get worse as the day went on.

Oh you should also rotate your joints too.

I'm just waiting for my face to fill out now too!

Please ring the hospital - I'm sure you are aware that they can be signs of pre-eclampsia so probably best to get yourself checked out and make sure that it's nothing more serious than just swelling x

  • Re: Swollen hands and feet advice

Fi, give the hospital a ring to be on the safe side. I hope you feel better soon lovely.Hug

Another one saying give the hospital a ring.  They may want to monitor you (check BP, protein etc) incase it is a sign of pre-eclampsia.

Apologies for lack of capital letters - Zoe has stolen my shift key Huh?

I'm singing alongside the pack too Kellfi - I'd definitely ring if I were you. Probably just one of those things, but at least you'll know for sure that it's nothing more serious.

Let us know how you get on.

Just seen this so might be replying when you have already decided what to do/have done.

But if you haven't then please give the hospital a call. Swellings are common signs of pre eclampsia, as are headaches. please get checked out.

Hope you get on ok with phoning the midwives. Hopefully all you'll need is a quick bp and urine check and check on baby and you will be back for xfactor - let us know how you get on.

Can't beleive I forgot to remind you of the midwife. I blame it entirely on being so self absirbed and sufering from no sleep.

Everytime mine has felt "much worse" I've called. Also on the look out for other things like not squeezing out any wee despite drinking lots. The midwife has always asked can you feel baby move, if not dik some fruit juice and if still not moving get to hospital asap. Back to the not weeing, they offered BHs causing the bladder to go into spasm and forgetting to empty itself.

One thing you can do proactively that will help with both headache and water retention (hoping it IS just that) is to drink plenty of water and rest.
