We are really struggling to choose a girl's name and the one name that H and I both love is Georgiana? But I have a few reservations about it and think it would help to hear people's thoughts if no-one minds sharing? I hope I don't offend anyone but my reservations are:
1) It's too posh/pretentious - I think it is originally a more upper class name and I am nowhere near that! Does this matter? Am I being a reverse snob? Will people think I am trying to be something I am not by choosing it?
2) I am unclear of the true pronounciation - I would say George-ee-anna but it can also be pronounced George-ay-nah - and wouldn't want people to think I was silly for using the first way of saying it. How would you say it if you saw it written down?
3) Would people call her Georgina all the time instead (although could get round this by spelling it Georgianna rather than Georgiana I suppose)?
hmm, think that's about it. Our son's name is Samuel and I think it goes ok with that, plus I would love to use Georgie as a nickname.
What do people think? Probably that I am completely over-thinking this!
